hey guys, i just removed my front grille today from the car, i sent it to the body shop guys at work. i was stuck between vinyl wrap all black gloss for around $80 or just painting it.

but went with a better idea, talked to one of the body shop guys, i decided to paint all the gray parts of the grille black like the car and keep all the chrome, i think it would look nice.

anyone done anything to their grill ?

ill keep posted on the grille, just removed today and gave to the body shop guys.

Sub'd for "after" pics.
A while ago, I bought an extra front grille from a guy on Ebay just for this mod but never got around to do it.
I'm sure it will look great.

Scott- thanks for the link which also gives me more options.

another member (sinstr?) did something similar with the grill on his white unit. don't have a link right now, but the pic i remember was sharp. this is a nice "enhancement".

Just received my grill back today. Going to install tomorrow.

Post some pictures tomorrow

I painted the grill on both my black 2012 4.6 and my white 2013 r-spec. Heres the black.

any pics of the white? ive got a 2011 and want to paint the silver inserts. kind of going back and forth on weather I should go with the storm trooper look and black out all chrome and put black 22's or leave the chrome and color match the grill to the car and go with chrome rims..

heres the white r-spec

Just a thought...
Since the lower grill is already black for all colors.
Upper black chrome grill on a white car.

Nice! What brand and model bulbs did you get?

I guess I'm lucky my Genesis is silver so I don't have to paint the grill.

It looks great in Black, here is a picture of mine also in Black

Nice grill! I just got a black 5.0 R-Spec over the weekend & am actually looking to blacken *all* the chrome body trim.

I planned to go all black on the grill, but you guys seem to be favoring the partial black grill, leaving some exposed chrome. Any reason?

Any thoughts on Plasti-Dip vs. paint? Paint seems to be the better long-term solution, yes?

Thanks!

I favored more the half black because I wanted to keep the even chrome long on the front of the car. But if you want to go fully black out look, I would go with a vinal wrap. Many local shops are doing them all over the place, if you do this please post pictures, I've been really thinking about more black, like black door handle and maybe the lower bumper

Instead of painting.
I'm thinking about vinylizing the unchromed portion of the grill.
Any suggestion/tip on both material and how to?
