If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I just took a survey in which they asked if you would like the Genesis sedan to also offer a panoramic roof.

I personally, said yes. I think it would look awasome and extremelly elegant!

Also, mentioned that they should offer rear window sunshades (manual or powered). I think it would give the Genesis an extra look of richness.

Want your opinion.

I personally wouldn't be interested in the panoramic sunroof. I test drove the new Maxima and the CTS - both had them - and I didn't really like them. As for the rear window shades, I like the back window shade, but I could take or leave side window shades.

I also liked the look of it in the image they showed and voted for it. As for the rear window shade- I think the powered one currently on my Genny is just fine.

As an option? Why not? I'd like the power sunshades as well - rear and sides. But maybe they're saving that for the Genesis Prestige sedan...

Power rear sunshade is already an option, isn't it?

It is very unlikely that Hyundai is going to piecemeal options. It will either be standard on all models, or included in some trim level (Premium, Premium Plus, Tech, V8 base, V8 Tech, etc.).

Would you be willing to pay $1,500 - $2,000 extra for it?

As far as "extremely elegant" what other luxury car have you seen them on (there may be some, I don't really know)? Personally, I think it would make the car look an mini-van, SUV, or cross-over.

You mean the roof or the shades? Most of the large Mercs have Pano roofs optional. Almost all of the big German cars have power sunshades (S-Class, 7-Series, A8).

I was talking about the the roof. It is not going to be free. The Genesis does have sunshades on the rear glass already (but not for rear passengers).

I think a good tint job obviates the need for sun shades and is effective when the car is parked and moving, but that is just my opinion.

I'd say make the Pano roof optional as a stand-alone option since it's so expensive. To limit model variations, make it available only on the Tech package cars.

Some states don't allow window tint (or only very light tint), so shades make sense.

I don't think there are any states that prohibit tints on rear passenger windows or rear glass, and they all allow fairly dark tints on those windows. It is the front driver and front passenger windows that have limits (and of course the front windshield which usually no tint can be added). I have a 50% tint on 5 windows, which is fairly light, but because it is a high tech ceramic film it blocks a lot of heat and UV light.

ME, MN, NY, PA, RI, and WA all allow only 50% or lighter.

50% is what I have on my car all the way around (except on front windshield). A 50% in a high quality ceramic is enough to block/reflect substantial amounts of heat, and works better than the shades in that regard. And it works while driving.

In the states listed above, I don't think the sun gets that intense anyway.

For some people, the shades/tint aren't about blocking heat. My windows are tinted to keep people from seeing in. A good shade will do this without having to tint.

Glass weights more than steel, so putting more glass in the roof wouldn't be of interest to me. Plus here in S. CA (most of the SW) the sun would cook you if you have an all glass roof.

Side window shades are more or less up to each owner, IMHO. We don't have people in the backseats and so not of interest to us.

So 1 no vote for a panoramic roof.

One abstain on need for side shades.

But then again we own our Gennie and so I guess it doesn't matter how we vote. Too late one-way-or-the-other.

I agree that the Panoramic roof should be a stand along option, but, I think it would look awasome.

Regarding the rear side window either manual or powered sunshades, is more for the look (in my opinion). I understand that tinting is good enough, but, everytime I see a BMW 7 Series or a Merc S-550 with the rear sundshade up along with the rear side windows, it catches my eye. It looks very elegant (again, my opinion). It is not a necessity, but it looks nice.

I think that it would place the Genesis sedan in higher level!
