  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First... welcome to the forum. :welcome:

Now - the post above is a comment that refers to the fact that some users have issues with rattles. Many, and probably most do not.

Pano roofs are more prone to noise issues due to their larger size.
So far, my Genesis is quiet. I had a rattle in my '13 Azera, but that was easily fixed with a felt shim. (not visible.. and the fix worked)

Some users have had continuing issues. If you search, you will see some of these accounts. Hyundai seems to know about the issues, and recently there have been some posts from users who had the entire roof replaced. These reports are fairly recent, so it may be too early to know if the fix is permanent, though that has seemed to quiet the issue for now from those reports.

Remember that many posts in a forum like this will refer to negative issues. That does not necessarily mean that you are likely to have the problem, but the forum will arm you with some info for what to expect if you do have any problems.

thanks for the info

My 2015 had noise issues that replacing the sunroof never did fix. I've driven 4 other G2 loaners and they all had some noise in the pano roof. My 2016 roof seems quiet so far - but I do have an annoying rattle over the driver side door (headliner), a creak (albeit minor) in the passenger dash area and a misaligned hood (1/8" gap to fender on one side, 1/4" on the other side) - not acceptable QC in a car of this price, in my opinion. I'll give them 1 chance to fix this stuff or it's time to cut my losses and exit Hyundai.

My 2015 hasn't had any issues thus far.

Same here. There's no sign of any of these rattles, noises, creaks, vibration, etc. nothing at all. It's deathly silent when driving, except for a little road noise, but then British roads are now as bad as third world countries.

Mine is rock solid, no rattles or creaks except one or 2 times this winter when the temps hit -30. Otherwise it's like a vault in this car.

I only hear the pano roof creak when I have to hit driveways at an angle since my car is so low. Otherwise it's super quiet.

Only thing I can think of is to not open it when the roof is dirty. Not sure if if opening and closing the panel drags road film and dirt into the mechanism or not.

Knock on wood, mine is quiet. Creaks a tiny bit when the body is stressed.

is safe to put a coat of wax on the roof? I'm looking to do some detailing next week and I'd like to bead it up a little. we are expecting rain all next weekend here in FL . go figure lol.

No rattles with mine since September 2014 when I bought the car. I do have the seperation issue with the seal but it doesn't leak. Still waiting on a TSB until I get that fixed.

I had a rattle that was only detectable at HWY speeds. Took it to dealer and they added felt padding to the cowling (area just below where the wipers reside) and the rattle was cured.

Was told it was a known issue and the resolution was more padding. The vibration presented itself as emitting from the dash area and I could not identify where it emminated from until the service tech found and cured the problem.

Was that related to the Pano roof? (This thread's topic)
