Panoramic Sunroof - How far back is it supposed to open?

I have a '16 with the sunroof. It seems to only open just about the length of the roof cutout, even a bit shorter. Just wanted to make sure this is right - that it's not supposed to go back further. See pictures. Thanks!

That's correct.....
 
I have a '15 and that's how far mine goes back too. I've often thought they could've designed it to go back further alas it is what it is. Still nice.
