  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As noted in the thread about snow performance, the Genesis Park Assist seems very sensitive to snow.

I understand why this is, yet my wife's Fusion doesn't seem to have the same problem.

Does anyone else have experience with other vehicles with this feature to tell if it is normal or overly sensitive?

Although I don't drive in the snow (if I can help it), my brother-in-law has a Ford FreeStyle (now called Taurus X) that has this feature. They love it, however a few days ago, everytime he would back up, the alarm would go off. he would get out of the car, and see nobody and nothing there. (Could this be a ghost??) Well after he got home, he saw what the problem was. A few hours earlier, he backed into a snow bank, and the snow stuck on the sensors, causing the alarm to go off every time he tried to back up.

Keep the sensors clean. (Also keep the back-up camera clean)

Thanks Bob.

I have experienced what you describe, where the sensor is actually snow-covered, but what bothers me more is sitting stopped at a stop light, in a snowfall, and having the sensors go on. then off, then on again as they sense falling snowflakes. I worry that over the summer I will come to trust the sensors, then next winter I'll turn them off due to snow and back into something expecting to hear a beep.

I find the sensors handy, especially when reversing into a parking spot where the car behind is lower, and now very visible, but I hope I don't get lazy and start to rely on them.

Just wondering if other car companies' sensors have the same issue.

regards,

Don't forget to use the search feature. We've had a discussion about this once before. :) Even my 750Li has a weakness here - with RAIN of all things...
