  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have Genesis 2011 V8. The problem I have is that the parking brake does not work sometimes. Whenever I press the parking brake button, all I get is a blinking "parking brake" light and nothing happens. In few instances, I had a blinking "parking brake" and both "Auto Hold" & "EPS" lights were on.

I just came back from the Hyundai service for a parking brake problem and I was told that the parking brake light was reset. I am not sure whether resetting the parking light will fix the problem. The service manager told me that if I have a same problem, they will call a Hyundai field service engineer to look at my problem.

Any comments/feedbacks? Thanks

Did you try setting the brake while at the dealership? Resetting the light may get rid of the blinking, but you still need the brake to function as designed.

I have the 2010 4.6 and just came back from the dealership with the similar issue. My issue was the electronic parking brake not wanting to release once engaged and both auto hold warning light EPB warning light coming on. The only way to release the EPB was to turn off the engine and to restart the car.

Anyhow, I was able to duplicate the issue when I went in for the 30K service last week and the service technician ran the OBD and found the fault code of C1270. It turned out the EPB overheated. He then ordered Electronic Parking Brake Assembly (Hyundai Part #59700-3M900). The part came in yesterday and the technician worked on the car for a whole day today. Genny now has no issues with the EPB.

The svc advisor set up a 1-day rental through Enterprise RAC and I rented the 2012 Dodge Durango Crew RWD. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality of the SUV. The quality of the newer Durango compared to the 2008 or 2009 Durango rented a few years ago is day and night.

If I were you, I would take the car to the dealership and show the problem to the svc advisor.
