  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Parking sensor alert while at complete stop

these cars talk to each other. Even my 2006 BMW E90 talked to Ford pickups

Prove it. Name the companies that make parking sensors. Maybe check the patents and licensing too.
All you have to do is type "parking sensor manufacturers" into Google. But since that seems difficult for you, I'll do it:

OMG, that is funny. Which one should Genesis choose? Did you read the descriptions of what they do:
Libelium designs and manufactures technological solutions to make the Internet of things possible. Libelium’s wireless sensor platform allows connecting the physical and digital worlds.

ParkHub is a Dallas-based technology company that provides software and hardware services for the global parking industry.

ParkHere is a smart parking sensor system which detects free parking spaces and makes the information available to car drivers.

Streetline’s mission is to make smart cities a reality through the use of sensor-enabled mobile and web applications. Streetline’s pioneering technology makes the parking experience for consumers easier, while making cities and university campuses

Zensors uses artificial intelligence software to provide human-centered and actionable sensor output with minimal hardware installation, allowing the user to make data-driven decisions.

I guess my problem is a little different. Mine just started about 2 weeks ago and it is only the right front sensor. There doesn't have to be any other cars around. It happens every time I stop with or without cars. The reverse trick is also a negative. It does it even when the car has not been put into reverse. Where is this dang button located to shut it off?

Sounds like other issues the dealer can help with.
Not sure on your car, mine has a button on the consul with a P on it.

You do know that Genesis does not make the sensors. Car makers don't make every part on the car. They buy from people like Dana, Bendix, Denso and others. You do not have to accepts the performance, you can turn them off. That is the only choice. Genesis may be faced with the same choice, buy from Brand X or not at all.
Yes, I know that automakers buy sensors. I also know that the sensors are not the problem. This is likely a software issue. The filters and or gain are not properly programmed. An obstruction and the signals coming from other ultrasonic sensors have different signatures. This is simply not the way the car was designed to perform. It is by definition a malfunction. The car maker has acknowledged this malfunction. Everyone in this thread is welcome to accept that their only choice is to turn off their parking sensors and live with fact that they paid for a parking sensor system that does not work properly. I choose to hold the dealership and OEM responsible. If I were told during the test drive before I bought the car that this happens then we would be having a different discussion or no discussion at all. Hyundai Genesis really has the choice here: Correct the malfunction or start issuing refunds for the parking sensor system.

Don't forget the FCC. There are regulations on what frequencies can be used too so they may be contributing to the problem. Could be a conspiracy.

Not liking the way they work doesn't mean they are not working properly. They been this way since at least 2015 and if they haven't made any changes to the way they work in 7 years means they're working as intended and you just don't like how they work.

Other brands do the same thing. If Hyundai/Genesis picks up BMW and Fords while stopped... guess what... BMW will pick up Ford and Genesis cars while stopped and Fords will pick up BMW and Genesis. I rented an E Class out in Vegas recently and it was doing the same thing. I didn't have it long enough to single out what brands it was picking up but they do that too.

It should shut off at 6 mph and the max distance is a 1 meter. It may not be shutting off.

I get it pulling into the street from my driveway and backing into the garage a couple of bushes. I don't think the update should have any affect.

A couple weeks ago my front sensors started going off with nothing anywhere around and no other vehicles nearby. I gave them a good cleaning and the problem went away.

To all in this thread: On 12/10/24 a Genesis corporate technician is going for a test drive with me to look at this malfunction.
We (Hyundai/Gensis/Kia) determined that this problem was beyond the capabilities of any dealerships as it is clearly a factory flaw. You all in this thread can continue to accept less than what you paid for. I don’t.
I fully understand the cause of the malfunction. I studied controls, filters, and signal processing in school. If anyone in this thread accepts the erroneous performance of their parking sensors of any car please drop your email or phone number so I contact you about bridge sales.

Looking forward to the results of the test drive,
Also looking forward to what the cost of upgrading the specs to eliminate the occasional beep

Well if you studied it in school you must know everything. I can not imagine why those Genesis engineers haven’t fixed it.

This happens to me when there is a Ford in proximity to me. Always a Ford. Has never happened any other time unless it's a Ford.

Doesn't much bother me tho.

Mostly Fords, but Range Rover, Tesla and a couple of others can do it.
Most everyone is blaming Genesis. Perhaps they do not realize that Hyundai/Genesis does not make them. Many items like this are bought from third party suppliers.

Today is the 10th, so we should soon have the results of the test drive previously mentioned.

Just a note here, I have a 2025 GV80 and I have not gotten any false notifications (false positive) at all since i have been driving it for the last 3 months. I used to get them all the time in my 2017 G90. I don't know if it is the positioning or different sensors, but this problem is a thing of the past (for me).
