  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Parking Sensors Toasted? (Vid inside)

Does it do that even when they're turned off? I can't recall from when mine were out a year ago.

Yes. The ON/OFF position for the parking sensors do no have any effect on the self-check of the system, nor the repeated reminder that the system has failed.

I forgot how annoying this whole problem was to deal with. Good luck!

These issues are really starting to get at me and making me reconsider any reliability the car may have down the road. I've had a boat load of electrical issues considering how "new" my Genesis is. Windshield wiper motor, 2 parking sensor failures, TPMS issues, and the ever so popular no sound from the audio system.

I had the parking sensor issues after 2 months (as soon as the first snow came, as others have experienced).

Windshield wiper motor went out about a month ago. First dealer I called couldn't get me in for 3 days. When they asked if that would work I said, "Well, is it going to rain before then?" Fortunately the dealer near my work understood it was a safety issue and got me in first thing the next morning.

Lately the nav screen has not been kicking on past the "Genesis H" screen every so often. Hopefully that doesn't become a trend...

My 2009 service manuals call the parking sensors the "Front/Rear Parking Assist System" at the end of the Body Electrical chapter. It appears to get power from the IG-1 terminal --> i.e. from the simulated ignition switch's ON position that powers a whole lot of stuff in the vehicle. It does not appear to have a dedicated fuse.

The control module itself is in the right-rear trunk area; it's a Siemen's unit on my 2009. It looks reasonably easy to get to for unplugging the connector; that'll shut it up.

The in-dash audio buzzer unit is used only by the parking assist system; unplugging it would be a way to silence the system without affecting anything else on the vehicle. Unfortunately, it's somewhere behind the stereo head unit and glove box. The manual says both have to be removed to replace the buzzer. It may be that you can remove the glove box and reach the electrical connector on the buzzer though - can't really tell from the pictures. The mounting bolt clearly is behind the stereo though.

Do you know where in the trunk the unit is? I look in the rear right and only saw the audio amp. I also looked in the rear left and thought I had found it. When I cross referenced the part number, it turned out to be the control module for the back up camera.
