If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello guys, so I recently purchased a used 2012 Genesis 3.8 sedan with technology package. The front passenger door lock doesn't open or close using the key fob or the power button from inside. All other doors work just fine. I know the lock is fine since I can lock and unlock the door manually by hand from the inside. Can you guys help me out diagnose this issue. I am going to take it to the dealer soon if I can't figure it out. Any input will be great.

Good chance the solenoid is not working. You have to remove the door panel to get to it. See if power is getting to it.

Thanks EdP, I will try that over the weekend, it will be my first time taking door panels off or maybe take it to the dealer let them check it out. Seemed minor but I guess not. I will keep you guys updated.

I have the same issue with my 2009. Any chance you could update us as to whether you got her fixed or not?

same issue here on my 2010 rear door. I think i have narrowed it down to the actuator. I have the part on order (will take a few week to arrive from South Korea). I'll post an update when i get it installed. part is door specific. my is for rear left. this is the part.

I think im having a similar issue since my passenger wont lock with my fob. I have to manually lock it. how much would this cost?

i have the part ordered from S. Korea. took the door apart but was defeated by the inner panel as i can't figure out how to take that panel off. all bolts are out but it wont budge. i think the glass needs to come out but im not willing to take a chance breaking it. thinking about taking to the shop if i can't figure out how to remove the panel. part was about $65 Canadian including shipping
photo shows one of the bolts.

Ironically I have the same car and the same problem:

- 2012 Genesis 3.8 sedan with technology package; passenger door lock doesn't open or close using the key fob or the power button.

I bought the car in 2012 and got lazy to get this addressed in warranty but will have to see the above discussions flow through to understand what to do as mine was doing this since the end of 2012.

I have replaced several door locks (outside and inside) handles on older cars so I guess i'ld have to take out the panel to understand whats going on. Where does the solenoid reside in the above picture? I was under the impression that the locking/unlocked was done by the cables in the picture.

When I did my window motor on my last car that silver panel was REALLY stuck down to the inner door once I removed the bolts. Those bolts are TIGHT. So you might have luck getting a paint scraper or something to slide in there and try to wedge it apart. That's probably the issue. Maybe a pocketknife. Just make sure you put vise grips on the window so it doesnt fall and shatter
