  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Took my 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate in for its first oil change and was informed that passenger high beam is not working. The mirror is not moving and they have to order an entire head lamp to replace it. Keeping the car for the weekend :(

Double check your high beams and make sure both are turning on.

The dealership is keeping it for the weekend? That seems really silly when the car is clearly driveable.

Did they give you at least another Genesis as a loaner?

No. Got a 2013 Azera

Wooot! Foglights for the weekend!

At least they gave you a loaner, that's not guaranteed. On a less flippant note, did they give you a reason why they were keeping the car? It really does seem like overkill if the lowbeams were in working order. I wonder if they're that risk averse -- that you might hit a deer because of only having a single high beam or something and hold them liable.

Which mirror are you referring to - side mirror(s) or rear view mirror

I believe he is referring the the flap that must lift for the xenon high beam on the upper trim "bixenon headlamps". There aren't two separate bulbs, it's like a blinder that cuts off the top of the beam while in lowbeam mode.

Are we talking about a Canadian or US car?

Because of safety reasons was the reason I was given.

Correct. The flap was not flipping up for the high beams.

US Car.

Here are the notes on my invoice.

Upon Inspection: Found front passenger headlamp bulb open
Verified pass high beam inop. There is power to solenoid controlling high and low beam shutter
Replaced pass front headlamp assembly and verified operation.

So basically you had a dead solenoid and they replaced the entire unit. Thanks for posting the outcome.
