  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 3.8 sedan. The passenger power folding mirror was not working. When i pressed the button to fold the mirror, I could hear the motor engaging, with a clicking noise. I figured a broken gear was the cause. I ordered a new gear (metal instead of plastic like the OEM one). I took the mirror off the door, disassembled it, and replaced the broken gear in the motor. I reassembled the mirror and put it back on the door. I then tested the power folding function and it worked. Replacing the broken gear fixed it. After doing this repair, when putting it in reverse, the mirror does move down automatically like ot should, but when I take it out of reverse and put it back in park or drive, it does not automatically return to its original position like it should. Also, if I use the mirror asjustment switch and move the mirror in any direction, the mirror moves left and right and up and down like it should. However, if I adjust the mirror position and press the 1 memory button, it will not return to the position I have stored in memory. Instead it does something weird. If I press the 1 button on the memory switch, the mirror will move up just a bit, then to the right just a bit, then up just a bit more, then to the right a bit more. The driver's side mirror is functioning as it should in every way.

Am I suppose to do some kind of reset procedure, since I disconnected the mirror from the car to do the repair? I do have an AllDataDIY subscription. It mentions the IMS module is located under the driver's seat and there are 4 electrical connectors connected to it. Is this true, and do I have to disconnect the four electrical connectors to do a reset on thr memory system.so that the passenger mirror works as it should again?

Any luck with this? Encountering the same issue as well. I bought a replacement passenger mirror, not the entire assembly just the reflective mirror, popped the original out and popped the new one in. The mirror goes up/down, left/right with manual controls, but if I put the car in reverse it goes down, but won't come back up. I'm wondering if I didn't install it properly or something needs to be reset?

How hard was it to replace the broken gear? I have the same problem.

I replaced mine recently and it wasn’t too difficult. There are a few YouTube videos showing exactly how to do it.
