  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A # of things not correct, or still up in the air...

Remains to be seen if the GV60 or the GV70e (MT refers to it as the eGV70, but Genesis switched things around) will be the 1st Genesis electric CUV; and it's not a rumor when there have been spy shots of the electric GV70 for some time now.

Unfortunately, Genesis got off a rocky start with its dealer network. The brand initially decided to sell its cars at existing Hyundai dealers, however, it's now changing course, and Genesis now plans to have its own independent dealerships. Jarred Pellat, a spokesperson for the brand, said that the first Genesis dealership will break ground this year, and the brand plans to have a network of 150 dealers in the near future across the United States.

The plan always was to have a separate dealer network (but separate stores just don't pop up instantaneously).

Seems like it will be the same 150 or so Genesis franchisees (from under the initial plan) going ahead and building out separate stores.

This article doesn't go into what will happen with the other dealerships who got their Genesis franchise after the lawsuits.

Figuere that the ones more serious about Genesis will at least build a separate building/showroom, but who knows what will happen with the others who want the benefits of selling Genesis models without having to pony up any $$?

My purchasing dealer, Genesis of Dallas has already shut down his franchise. Still several more in the DFW area so no worries yet when it comes to warranty work. 150 stand alone dealers across the whole country is not a lot of dealers. Plenty here who have already said their closest dealer is more than an hours drive away. If eventually more Hyundai dealers give up their franchise and stand alone dealers start to pop up sporadically in areas, if I had to drive 75-100 miles to get future warranty work done, would definitely affect me choosing (or not) a Genesis in the future if I have to drive a bunch when test driving a new vehicle, for negotiations and for future warranty work.

The bit about a possible performance model is such PR speak. I mean acknowledging that performance is a constant trend in the luxury space customers is better than nothing; it shows he sees a business case for it, but that may just be stating a fact and not a view of Genesis as a whole.

Probably best case for ICE performance from Genesis would be that the G80 Sport spy shots are real and they can tune the 3.5TT engine to mid to high 400 horsepower. Then they bring these changes to a next gen G70 Sport or something once it can accommodate the 3.5TT.

As demand for Genesis vehicles grows you might see more Hyundai dealers deciding to make the investment to build separate dealerships or at least separate facilities for their Genesis clients in order to be more competitive, especially if corporate Genesis finds a way to increase the incentives for their dealers to do so (this phenomenon is well under way with Lincoln, which is managing to coax more and more of its Lincoln stores away from Ford stores). Even with more separate facilities it is most likely that number of Genesis outlets will grow, not shrink, parallel to the growth in vehicle sales.

I continue to wonder why Genesis tuned its 3.5 V6 twin turbo engine so conservatively (375 hp/391 lb-ft torque). Taking Lincoln again for comparison, they manage to get 400 hp/415 lb-ft of torque out of the 3.0 V6 twin turbo they put into the Aviator. And what they get out of the 3.5 V6 twin turbo they put into the Navigator puts the output of the engine in the GV80 to shame: 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. So there should be lots of room for safely uptuning the Genesis 3.5.

Warranty 10/100000 vs 6/70000. If it was your money covering it what would you do?

Ford Motor Company is known for having very reliable twin turbo engines that are not excessively tuned. I'm not an automotive engineer and I'm not saying Hyundai needs to match its 3.5 V6 twin turbo to the output of the 3.5 V6 twin turbo in the Navigator, but I do believe that there is plenty of room for safely uptuning the engine based on what other automakers are getting out of similar power plants. But whatever Genesis ends up doing, I'm looking forward to getting into a GV80 by late this year or possibly very early next year.

V6 engines seem to have a huge range in possible performance. The Nissan GT-R makes 600 HP/481 lb-ft, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio makes 505 HP / 443 lb-ft, and the Ford GT makes 647 HP/550 lb-ft.

My favorite dealer, 105 miles from me, is presently Hyundai and Genesis on the same property, HOWEVER, Genesis will soon move next door in a former Mitsubishi location.

My closest dealer, 10 miles away still sells Genesis from his Hyundai location. This dealer doing “strange” things. He has Hyundai/Genesis, VW, Honda and Nissan. What he did was built a NEW Honda Dealership next door to his Hyundai/Genesis, sharing the same driveway with Hyundai/Genesis. After moving Honda to his new location, he moved Nissan to the former Honda location. Now former Nissan location is his Used Car Center. Don’t know why he did not move Genesis to the former Nissan location. (Smaller location, but would be perfect for Genesis).

their 3.5l ecoboost ranges from 310hp to 600+hp in the GT. different vehicle classes have different epa requirements. and with EPA raising requirements for mpg across a manufacturers fleet, it makes it harder for a company like hyundai/genesis to meet those requirements by pumping out high hp, low mpg cars and keep them not limited run and cost effective.

My dealer in St George UT also pulled Genesis out from Hyundai. I was told that Hyundai would NOT service my car no-how, no way. If I wanted warranty work done, I'd have to go to Henderson NV, 136 miles away from me. I'm 81 and have terminal cancer. I fought the Genesis battle clear up to corporate, with no relief. Subaru is now doing my oil changes (at my cost, of course), but I'm still waiting for Genesis to let us know about the recall. Had I known the Genesis dealership would be pulled in St George, I never would have bought the Genesis although I love the car (2019 G80).

Closest dealer is 230 miles. Really like the GV80 but that is a long drive for 3 year service and warranty. Hope for dealer in my area before I buy new vehicle. Live in 79121 area.

Would love to have a GV80 but dealers are 230 miles away--Too far to drive for service and warranty--will have to settle for something else--
