  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Like in the title, 2016 Genesis 5.0, forgets the phone pairing as well as the satellite subscription at every shutdown/restart. The setting are saved, the presets are saved in Sirius, the phone is completely gone from the memory - as if it was never connected. I can re-connect once on and all is good until I shut off the car. Has anyone experienced this?

I had the same problem a few days after I purchased my 2015 3.8 in 2017, after talking to Sirius tech support, they told me the radio should be replaced, I went to the dealer and told them what the Sirius tech told me. The dealer ordered a radio and replaced it a week later at no charge, the car was still under warranty. That resolved the problem and the radio has been trouble free since.

Chances are fairly good it has a failing drive, as that's where the data is stored for the satellite radio. Replacing it takes getting a new radio or getting the existing one refurbished...and I might be the only one who has what's needed to refurb the 9.2" Ultimate radios.

I will keep that in mind for the future

if you're technically minded you can disassemble it yourself, drop in an imaged drive and put it back together. I've got a 2015/16 image available for download.

Suburbazine, 10 years ago, that would be a nice project for me, but my sight is not the same, but I would still try it.

It's a moderately difficult project, but great eyesight isn't needed. (Although a couple of ribbon cables might be annoying). I can find my disassembly pictures too.

Where is the drive exactly? Is it in the Radio/CD assembly?

Yes. It’s located under the DVD player. But it’s screwed into the upper board, which means separating the upper and lower boards to remove it.

Note: it must be a Solid State Drive. No rotating laptop drives.

What would it cost to have this refurbished by you?

$150+shipping. 5 year warranty on the drive only.

No warranty on head unit or guarantee of success since I can’t repair board level defects like burnt chips or bad solder points.

If you send your map SD card along with the unit, I will update it to the current operating system as well.

if I receive the H/U and the original drive tests OK (no errors) there will be no charge other than return shipping.

Please PM me the specifics (address, etc) and I will send it out. Unless its ok to post here.
