  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm interested to hear/see which phone mounts other 2G Sedan owners use in their car. Any that are better than others or any to specifically avoid?

I'm particularly intrigued by any kind of CD player mount as I don't use the CD player and it is in a good centralized location so if anyone uses or has used one of those I'd love to hear about it. Pics would be great if anyone has them as well!

I know Aquineas uses phones in conjunction with his radar detectors - I am sure he can shed some light on this. I am interested in this as well - I usually use one phone for waze and one for communication during rallies and I have been looking into mounts lately.

I mount mine on a PanaVise PortaGrip with Premium Telescoping Suction Cup Mount for my Nexus 6, it's a long arm that attaches to the windshield, but I do not recommend that solution as it's come off a couple of times. I do like the placement though, it allows convenient access to my phone.

Here are a couple of other threads to take a look at that might give you some ideas:

I have one on my Gen 1 in the CD - LOVE IT

doesn't come loose, stays put, can rotate.

1 - drawback (Gen 1) - it does protrude in to the button selection for the HVAC... to select the mode a tad. Not a deal breaker for me. I can reach around without issue.

I "hid" a wire that pops out of the dash area fro charging...

found a flat Iphone cable - worked will enough.

no pics.

if using a window mount / suction cup - they will fall off at the most inopportune time. I have combatted that by putting a little rubber cement on the back ... and then suctioned on to the glass...wipe off excess. I have also used a drop of superglue on occasions. it holds better, but the rubber cement work OK (on other cars I've had)

I would recommend you get the position set first, and try a few locations... then glue if going that route.

The rubber cement is a great idea! Thank you!

love my spiderpodium, very versatile, fits any car and any phone and any vent placement

I seriously considered the proclip but by the time I had all the pieces I needed it was $120.

That's what I like about my windshield mount. It's right next to the A-frame, easy to see (almost like a HUD), but not in line-of-sight, and if you need to touch the screen, you barely have to take your left hand off the steering wheel.

For me, phone placement is all about a "built in factory" look. I need clean and tidy. I use my phone (primarily) for (wait for it), phone calls!! (in the car anyway)...
Those CD and suction cup solutions are personally too obtrusive for me.
Glad you guys found solutions you like!!

I use this. Mountek ngroove snap.
Fits in CD holder - does anyone actually use CDs anymore?

Thanks Huddleston and Aquineas. I'm going to give the mount below a shot. We'll see how it goes.

Follow-up...

I did get this and "installed" it over the weekend. Took about 20 seconds to install if that. It works exactly like I hoped it would. My biggest worry was if the magnet was going to be strong enough to where my phone doesn't fall off when I hit a bump or whatever. No worries there....it is a surprisingly strong magnet and looks good. I have a LG G4, so not exactly a small phone.

When my phone is "mounted" it does visually block some of the buttons but it doesn't block me from utilizing all of the buttons. If you're looking for a good/effective mount, I definitely recommend this one.
