  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My android phone cannot accept or make calls in the car. The phone is paired and I get confirmation on the Nav screen at startup. On an outgoing call voice recognition works and then the phone goes silent when I dial a number. On incoming calls there is no volume but I see the call coming in on the screen. Before I take it to the shop was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks.

I had the exact same problem when I took delivery of my Genesis. Depending on your phone, it's likely you need a new head-unit. I would ask to try your phone out on another Genesis at the lot. If that works, then obviously it's your head-unit.

You did not indicate what phone you have. My Samsung Note 4 works perfectly.

Motorola G and Motorola X. Neither works. But both work well in my other car so I'm thinking its the car not the phone.

Yep, it's probably your head-unit. I made the mistake of replacing my perfectly functional Galaxy Note 3 with a Nexus 6 because I'd read something about Blueooth 4.0 occasionally having some problems interfering with the phone radio, and my problem didn't go away until I replaced my head-unit.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You could try resetting the head unit. There is a little hole or button somewhere on the face (where depends on exact unit you have), with the unit turned on push it with a paper clip or ballpoint pen. Here is an example:

Up until last week I had a moto G and it worked fine with my Genny (2016 Ultimate).

Cant find the reset button or hole for the head unit in my 2015 Genesis. I watched the video but that was on an Elantra. Anyone know where it is on the Jenny? Or if there is one?

The reset is located above the CD slot on the right side. It is near the setup button on the AVN systems (Base, Signature, and Tech packages) It is near the DISP button on the DIS systems. (Ultimate package)

Motorola X Pure edition works perfectly in my 2015.

Its neither the car nor the phone.
Most likely is android OS glitch.( I have a nexus 6P which gives me connection issues during call but not on music streaming)
There are many issues with all different kinds of cars and android marshmallow.
Google seems to be aware of it. Hopefully, they will fix it in some future update !

Are you certain? Because I had the exact same problem and it was specific to my head unit. I bought a Nexus 6 thinking it would solve the problem but it didn't, but switching to a new head-unit did.

I can't say for sure but if you google it, you'll find lots of people facing the same exact problem with all kinds of cars ranging from ford to bmw.

I've been talking to google tech support- lets see how it goes !

I wanted to get back to the group with the latest on my car phone problem.

I took it back and talked to the Service Manager. I asked him to try it on another Genesis as Aquineas has suggested. He tried my car first then the other Genesis. It worked perfectly on the other car. IN the meantime I have been testing it and found today out of 4 attempts, it worked 1 time. Also today I was able to receive a call. So its intermittent. Not sure what they will do next. I will keep everyone posted.

All testing done and they have determined that I need a new head unit.

Thanks for all the replies.
