  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Everybody!
I just picked up my 2012 Titanium Gray 3.8 yesterday with a whopping 12 miles on it. I am leaving my 2008 Yukon Denali as my new job requires a lot of ATL to Nashville driving (sales) and I want a good cruiser. I can't believe how smooth this 8sp tranny is. I only have 28 miles on it now but will love getting 26-29 mpg on the HWY instead of a crappy 12mpg that's for sure. Also love the bluetooth connects with my iPhone so no wires, just tunes! I may upgrade to the 19" wheels but I'm not in a rush for that.

congrats but coming in here without pictures is pretty much sacrilegious lol.. so get on that will ya?

i just traded in my '10 Yukon Denali. i must say i don't miss it at all and i loved that truck but this car is just that good (imo).

congrats

Congratulations! Keep providing updates on the ride and any observations.

I will be buying a 12 3.8 once they arrive in Dallas.

If you are willing to share, what was your price not including trade in?

Where are the pictures !!! ..lol.....you can't buy a new Genny, tease us and not post pics....I think there is some rule about that when you signed up to make posts on these forums :) !!! /joke. Congrats on your new car, I'm waiting for our dealership to get some V8's in so I can purchase a new one also. Though I like my 2010 V6, if I had one thing to do differently it would have been a V8 from the start.

Sorry guys, I know my ol' Yukon forum was all about the pics. I will take some better ones once I'm back in ATL on Thursday. I'm away for the 4th now and the car is cookin in the garage.

I paid invoice (you can get that on edmunds) - 1/2 of dealer holdback (about 850 off for me which the GM and I split total Holdback of 1700) - 1,500 luxury car trade in incentive good through 7/5 = my price.

Also regarding the "I wish I got the v8 comment". I thought long and hard about that one, drove the 3.8 with the new 333HP output and said, you know, I'm much happier getting 29MPG. If I want umph and all that I would have bought a Camaro SS like my Systems Engineer has. ; - ) But IMHO that's not the point of a Genesis. It's about getting a lot of everything (but not too much) in one nice beautiful package.

The titanium looks sharp in the '12's. CONGRATS!

Hey gameday22 I love the color of your car. There are many threads on the forum that ask about regrets with the Genesis and for me it is that I've seen so few of the color choices personally...they all seem to be great.

I would love any reports on real world MPG. Thanks.

Not sure about 2012, but on previous years models, the MPG will also get reset on your display when you fill your tank with gas.

That is nice if it does so it's real time. In my mommy driver the Escalade ESV I just reset it once I get behind the wheel.

Ok, I pulled the trigger and got my new car Friday!! Went with the 2012, 3.8 platinum, (prem & tech )…(pics to follow)….

I had test driven the 2011 V8 but wanted to see the new model.
I was in the market for a new car for a few months and decided to jump on it when I saw a local dealer had 2 on the lot…by the time I got up there to test drive it ,one was gone!....BUT…the one I wanted was still there!!

Drove it this weekend….the ride is freakin great…love the power….did’nt need to ride the new V8….I’ll be dodging tickets in this one enough without more power.

The suspension to me was a little better than the 2011 v8, not as stiff, but the handling was nimble and fun….the seats were very comfortable…not sure if this is just my impression or they changed them….the AC on the drivers side cools well and the navigation system comes on quictly.

Little road noise but it depends on the road surface ….not surprised…..MPG, I’ll have to let you know, as I was driving a little faster than normal :D so it might be a little off…..
Saw a guy (dealer) at a party..He had a new Audi 7…….the genesis looks much better in side and out!!!...plus the Audi’s don’t have a full sunroof…they don’t fully open!!and have some cloth covering the window not a full solid slider….. Plus add 30k to the price.

I had a friend who drives BMW’s take a ride…he was amazed Hyundai had such a car…like it more than the BMW…..price too:)

I’ll keep you updated on the ride and try to get some pics to post…..looks good guys for the 2012’s……Sweeeeeet.
Joe
Ps… got it for a little less than invoice

Holdback is a rebate the dealer gets from the manufacturer, usually if they meet certain sales targets (although not sure if they ever are not given out). That enables a dealer to sell at or below invoice, and still make a profit.

Also, the way to ask (get) a portion or all of holdback is ask your salerep to talk directly with the GM of the dealership. She/He is the only person who can authorize this and they cringe when you bring it up!;)
