  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picked up my 2012 3.8 yesterday

Guys-if you would-so it helps other future buyers-please give exact price figures. Some of these dealers give you one discount and then take it back with a high dealer fee or a "whatever" fee.
Let us know by saying I paid invoice which was $xxxxx and then a dealer discount of $xxxx and then my loyalty rebate of $xxxx. Then they added a dealer fee of $xxx and transfer fee of $xxx, tax $xxxx- so my total out the door was $xxxxx.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking to get 2012 3.8 with premium and technology package (MSRP $43850), if I can find good color combination.

Using Hyundai Circle the price is $39,538.00.

Minus $1500 competitive rebate (for Infinity M35), total comes to $38,038.00.
That, off course, doesn't include any fees, taxes, tags...

Do you think this is a good price?
Any room for negotiation? Like splitting 3% holdback?

it's a brand new year model car, so I would say no.

but think of it, you're getting the newest and greatest for around 38K. it cost like 35 K to get a 2011 loaded model.

I too picked up my new 2012 3.8 tech yesterday....I LOVE THIS CAR!!!...for me its as if some magic hand turned the "taut" button down one half turn...just one half turn. The ride is still pleasantly firm but the harshness is absent. The tranny is (without being to Richard Simmonish :)) Buttery! I didn't think the 17 speaker Lexicon would be that much different than the 14 speaker model of my 2010 but it is! There is a clarity, punch and realism over and above the non tech system.

I could go on and on about my romance with this car. Let's just say I would rate it two thumbs up, four stars, a Hustler's fully erect, a must see, a don't miss, I can't remember the critics from In Living Colors approval, well you get the point. If you have any misgivings about the pre '12 suspension do yourself a favor and test drive the 2012. I owned the 2010 3.8 for about 13 months during which maybe 20 different passengers rode and I didn't hear even one favorable comment about the 2010's ride (no negative comments either just silence kind of like eating at a friends when the food isn't really good)..I can't wait for those friends to take a spin in the new car.

I've remarked a number of times in this forum " a Genesis with a good suspension is my ideal car" well my ideal car is in my garage and I could not could not be happier! Its what the Genny should have been from day 1.

Platinum 3.8 tech, loyal customer plus Costco equalled 2K beneath invoice. The car had to be transported from one state over so I had to give $400 back...I just started the novel length manual for the DIS! Later

Vince, if you really want to enjoy that 17-speaker Lexicon sound system, get yourself the Beatles "Love" DVD-A (DVD-Audio). The full, rich, surround sound is PHENOMENAL.

robcar I'll take your suggestion and LOVE will be my first DVD A

Hey Vince
How was your experience with costco auto buying?
I have heard nightmare stories such as dealer refusing to even show car for test drive unless you had to sign willing to buy, useless presentation from dealer and charging promotion fee by buying through costco etc.
I do have costco membersbip but felt hyundai circle or zag to be very similar and able to haggle afterwards

Junkie49 (? Ok), This is the fourth car I've bought thru Costco and I've yet to have a bad experience. I highly recommend Costco's service. True its a no haggle process but I don't think I could have mad a better deal the ususal way. If a dealer has a problem with the Costco program I'ld choose another dealer.

I think a lot of dealers make their money now days with the extras after the car's price has been settled. Warranties, insurance, maintenance contracts, financing are where they can make money today...you have to be prepared and understand what you are buying before you walk into this jungle...some of this stuff is valuable while some are pure junk/profit. Got to do your homework even with a service like Costrco.

By the way I don't have a problem with Car dealers. They are just trying to make a living in a tough trade in a tuff market. Someone opined here that car salesmen are the lowest life form on earth. BOVINE SCATOLOGY!! We just saw a young Floridian lady gulity of killing her infant daughter walk away scott free (She Did it!!) and there are any number of thugs, pimps, hooligans and what not out there and I didn' t even mention the odd crooked lawer, minister, corporate head or politician.

No we shouldn't be fleeced at the dealer but they should make a living also.

There are honest car salespersons and dealers, but the overall picture is not so good. Trying to compare a group of people (car salespersons) with individual criminals (like the woman in FL), is not really very useful. Maybe you think that car salespersons are more honest as a group than housewives as a group, but I tend to doubt that.

On the other hand, one of the reasons why car salespersons do what they do, is that they have found that they make more money that way (i.e., those tactics work for them). With the advent of the internet and car buying services, things are a lot better than they used to be.

Who is comparing car dealers to criminals? Someone here said that they (car salesmen) are the worst of the worst...mere hyperbole. I've said too much already. Pointing out the obvious is pointless and then having a discussion about it! Ok so I take it back :). Disregard the statements about car salesmen please.

Nevermind the Costco auto program.
In where I live it is 150 miles away from participating Hyundai dealer and somehow prices are around $1500 higher than my nearest dealer on 2012 3.8.

No haggle might be a bit peaceful compared to getting armed and ready to haggle style though:D

Sure it is hyperbole, but what other professions are worse (as a group, not counting individual persons)? Maybe lawyers and politicians, I don't know.

Every single car salesperson I have ever dealt with has tried to play ridiculous games with me in the car buying process. I didn't let it bother me too much since I knew how to deal with it, but it is not very flattering to them as a profession. Just my opinion.
