  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picking up the fastest color tomorrow

http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/11787ba3#/11787ba3/17

well, I couldn't find the pdf I looked at, there were 29 pages of chrome history prior to finding the car in houston. I did att a link to the current brochure where you will find Marakesh Beige and Montecito are missing. Now when I say I got one of the last three, what I am specifically referring to is a 2016 Monte/Ivory/Ultimate AWD, there are lots of Montecitos in varying layouts still on the market, BUT that color stopped being mfr'd in aug of last year, so no more new ones are coming, whats already here is it (for the US market, the doc I saw was Hyundai America, not Canada, and the two entities do things VERY differently).

edit - see page 17

Interesting....... I downloaded a brochure on 9/15/15, and Montecito Blue was there, but it's not in the new version!

I have a theory as to why.... as you know the OEM tires were Hankook Ventus, and they were changed to Michelin or Conti depending on the configuration. Since the new tires were not the same speed rating, they had to reprogram the ECU to limit the top end speed.

So..... Hyundai had to discontinue Montecito Blue because even with the ECU update, the car was simply too FAST!

I know there has been considerable disagreement as the fastest color, but I hereby submit these facts as incontrovertible proof that Montecito Blue was actually the fastest color! :D

^ that is pretty damning evidence.

You guys should get together down in Southern California

Definitely time for an Austin get together......

For sure, I'm sure there is a sub forum for meets but it might have to wait a little while cause....

I'd say that regardless of how "fast" you guys think Montecito Blue was, it was discontinued because not too many people actually liked/bought it (or Marrakesh Beige)... ;)

I think is was because dealers are chicken shit and do not want to take chances on something different so they order white, grey, silver and black which are sure to sell. I know there were none in Canada and none in the pipeline so they had to place an order to produce it! I may have the only Montecito Blue 5.0 AWD in existence!

Congrats on the ride! Re: blue cars, they are easy on the eyes yet unpopular with buyers. I took a bath selling my beautiful navy blue Volvo S70 back in the day. There's a car pro on another forum who talks about "no-sale blue." So, never sell!! :) Oh, and Empire State Gray is plenty fast.

I was looking at dealer inventory for a year before I pulled the trigger. Montecito Blue did not show up for several months after introduction. What I did observe, was that they did not usually stick around too long once they showed up.

I found a lot more Black, White, and Gray/Silver cars, and often, the exact stock number would be around for a long time. Having said that, I know they still sold a lot more of those.
