  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pictures of the new G70

Thanks for the link. In these photos, the hood seems to slope down more in the front than the present design, which I don't care for. It looks a bit beak-like, similar to what they did to the F30 and newer BMW 3 series. I believe it's done to meet pedestrian safety requirements (although could also be for aerodynamics).
ah, my response was wrong here, thinking of the G80, but no way to delete post?

Front still looks too soft for me. Starting to look more like a Sonata (no offense to Sonatas) I much prefer the chiseled in your face sinister look of the present one.
You bring up a good point. For many years you could look at cars and pretty much tell what family they came from. You could see similar style elements on both an Oldsmobile and a Chevy but you also could tell one was a class or two above. Hyundai/Genesis is trying to do the same. Nothing wrong with that but I want to be able to look at a Sonata next to a G70,80,90 and be able to justify in my mind the thousands of dollars more I paid for it.

At the same time, technology has filtered down too. The present Sonata has about the same features as my 3 year old G80. Since I went from driving 25k to 5k miles a year my next car may not be another Genesis. Harder to justify.

BEAUTIFUL!

Alfa has had some great/timeless designs, but the Giulia and Stelvio are not among them.

The signature Alfa grille is not as well done on those 2 and their headlights are just dorky (kinda reminds me of the headlights in the old Sonata hybrid).

One thing i’ve noticed with the Giulia (and Alfa in general) is how crappy the base models look. Between the dorky rims, thick sidewall tires, piddly calipers/rotors, overall bland exterior trims and front/rear treatments, and sparse and basic interiors, they really make the lesser cars look and feel cheap. Or, they do a great job on upselling buyers into the higher trims. But you have to move up several trims to get into something with a decent appearance package. Sure, the Quadragfoglio looks awesome, but anything less than upper spec’d Alfa trims look weak sauce.

Point in case - see attached photo of a base-looking Stelvio (but it is not the base model). Interior is equally as dull. All black, cheap looking materials. Boring.

Another nice aspect of the G70. Without trying too hard you get a very well-spec’d and well-contented vehicle that doesn’t look or feel like a base vehicle. For instance, in CAD my G70 trim is the 2nd least expensive trim, but comes with all the Sport interior and exterior appearance and mechanical components, including the full Napa x-stitched interior, pano roof, HUD, Lexicon, Brembos, rain-sensing wipers, and on and on...sorry for the OT. Not like we didn’t already know the G70 value proposition.

What? You are serious? Did you sit in a Guilia? I think you are confusing bright colors for quality materials and construction.
Unfortunately, Alfa raids the parts bin from other lower-rent FCA vehicles mainly the Charger, Challenger and the older than dirt 300. Just look at the switches and controls and at one time, the 8.4 inch nav screen.

The wheel stalks on the G70 is also from the Ia and Hyundai parts bin.
So is the Nav and the center screen on the gauge cluster!

The new one will age nicely cause it looks futuristic vs current one which looks very 2018!

But at least they’re moving away from that after one generation, which is impressive.
