  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please look at these pictures and tell me if this is a dealer addon pinstripe or if it is something you may have seen before. It does kind of break up the side of the coupe, but I just want to know if it is factory or dealer done. A second question is if you like it or not. I have not made up my mind on it yet. Tried this car out this afternoon and was impressed so far. Trade day is getting closer I think!

most pin striping is added from dealer and not a factory item. They usually hire someone to come in and do a bunch of cars at once

Pinstripes are normally a dealer add-on. It is normally listed in the "Bump-Up Sticker" located next to the Manufacturers Sticker. That Bump-Up sticker normally has a whole bunch of things the dealer adds on, to charge you more. Two dollars worth of tape. Ten dollars labor for the PDI guy to put it on. Charge you two hundred for the honor of having it.

So..... Do you think it adds to the decor or is it better plain?

that is totally personal preference but IMHO I'm not a fan pin-striping

On our 2004 Elantra GT the pinstriping looks nice. On my 3.8GT I'd never even consider it. This car looks better plain.

Quality pin-striping is normally painted on and can easily cost $ 150-200 per car for relatively plain striping. Tape striping is much less expensive.

There are pros and cons for each as to longevity. BTW I have never had painted pin striping wear off even when owning a car for 10 years.
