  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, so my first time jacking my 2011 Genesis 4.6 was rough. There seems to only be 4 exposed points of the metal subframe that were pinch welds. However I was able to fit my jack on the flat side next to it barely catching the plastic (dumb Ik, I just really need brakes and an oil change). After checking under my car I can see that there was a soft “foam” type of coating around the welds that I tore with the jack. ***Anyone know exactly what that coating is and any fixes?*****

Was your dog injured?

Take a picture. My jack points on my 2013 are painted body color. No "foam coating"

I use a rubber puck with a slot in it over the pinch weld area for easy jacking at the recommended factory jack points. No damage or marks at all from jacking.
