Hello folks,

I am all set to place order for 2.5T ADVANCED PLUS AWD in next 1 - 2 weeks time and have following question.

1. What interest rate did you get either for lease / finance - (My credit score 860 if that helps?)
2. Other than MSRP did you guys get any deals? / Employee price / other membership benefits etc. (I know its sellers market)
3. Approximate waiting period?
4. I read prices are going up !! so if I place order now and on delivery if the prices goes up, will the dealer honor the order price?
5. Did you order any accessories other than the trim offered
6. Any suggestions / advise TIA

1. I have 1.9% rate. They are offering that now with good credit.
2. Deals, seriously. MSRP is very good deal now. Read the prices paid forum here.
3. Prices paid has some lead times as well. I found my color combination in an out of town dealership and it my car shipped. There are people saying they can't order 2022 anymore. Lots of details there.
4. That is in prices paid as well, some people are commenting on 500 increase.
5. Accessories, hmmm. Not many choices out there other than floor mats and mud flaps.
6. Read about the last 5-6 pages in the prices paid forum, you will learn alot.

These are all great points. Regardless of whether a dealership can place build order, dealerships can take your order and work with other dealerships for swaps as cars come in. Talk to different dealerships if you hear "can't order" and be ready to negotiate/walk away if they say "people are buying MSRP +5k."

I've heard the same from several dealers/people now but my dealer never mentioned it. I'm checking back with them. What others have said is true though. Unless your dealer is asking for a deposit, you can check around to see what might already be coming into the dealership that are in Transit and most dealers swap out vehicles with one another on a regular basis. Regardless, there's not much inventory around so there is slim pickens at the moment.

Finance rate in Canada shows 2.9% upto 84 months. That is the website rate - has anyone in Canada found lower rates talking to the dealer?

Genesis of Waukesha told me today that the next big batch of GV70 cars coming into the Chicagoland area in the next several weeks will be it for the 2022s. His understanding was that no more orders will be placed after that until they start taking orders late summer for 2023s.

No idea if that is accurate or not. Posting so the group can validate/invalidate. I'm new to the forum and am actively shopping for a GV70 2.5 Advance. Have told multiple dealers I am a buyer at MSRP, which I think is nuts!! They are not impressed. The best deal I've found is MSRP plus 1,500 worth of crap that I'm seriously considering taking and I think is even more nuts than paying MSRP!!! The worst I've found is 6,000 over MSRP.

On a another note, Truecar proved a bust for me. Dealers "Market Demand Adjustments" do not show up in the Truecar "great" price from their "Certified Dealer". You get blindsided with those numbers when you try to get the OTD price. No haggling? Yeah, not so much.

In Canada you can order online @ MSRP and choose your dealer. Is that not an option in the US?

Check these guys out for pricing that was at MSRP, a couple weeks ago at least. No inventory, but they will work with you.

Got my 2.5 Advanced a few weeks ago. Adriatic Blue with Havana brown. The biggest advice I can give is to not pay more than MSRP, and don't pay for the pointless add-ons. (wheel insurance, fabric protectant, etc) I had to call around to about 8 different dealerships before I found one that would simply do the deal at MSRP. I also used the Genesis Concierge, and they were quite helpful in helping to locate what I wanted. Where are you based?

I think this is the best advice I've seen for all the potential buyers. People are too trusting of what dealers are telling them and forgetting that a dealer's job is to maximize its profits on each sale. Knowing that, it becomes your job to get the best sale and if you don't want to spend extra money then you probably have to put time/work into it. Sure, the pandemic has changed the whole car-buying process, but it has not changed those two basic principles of selling and buying.

It's a bit confusing that according to this dealer in the next few weeks there will be a batch of 2022, but then the next batch won't be here until the 2023 which they won't even start talking orders for until late summer, meaning they won't get onto the dealers lots until early fall??

The supply of everything, including these cars is a bit up in the air. Based on some rumors I read online that all GV70's ordered now will be 2023 instead of 2022, I asked the salesperson if my GV70 will be a 2022 or 2023. I was told it wold be a 2022.

I was told by a Genesis dealer in Janesville, WI who was trying to convince me paying $8000 over MSRP was the only way to get a 2022, that all orders will be fulfilled with a Model Year 2023. But again when I spoke to the salesman who took my order he said it's the GV80 that is changing to MY 2023 early and there are still 2022 GV70's being built and having the orders fulfilled.

There was also a guy here on the forum that placed in order in early Dec, got the call from the dealer his GV70 was being built in early Jan and should be on the lot in early Feb.

When it comes down to it, I'm not sure what to believe. Everyone seems to have different information and even the dealers seems to have varying points of view. The differences could be perception, or a misunderstanding, or even some dealers trying to convince you to make a move and pay more than you need to. I'm simply hopeful with my order in, that my wait time isn't more than 3 months. But I guess I am also prepared as much as I can be for a longer wait.

My advice would be to ignore all of that, and simply seek out a dealer that will sell you a GV70 at MSRP, and nothing more. You might have to put in some elbow grease and call around to like 8-10 dealers, but you should be able to find something. Use the Genesis Concierge as well. I was not willing to settle for a 3+ month wait time, or paying one dollar over MSRP. So it took me about 3 weeks, and some effort, but I got what I wanted.

I second that opinion, and dont' be afraid to have it shipped. You can ship it a long way for 1000 or less. This greatly increases the number of dealers you can talk to. I sent out an email to a dozen or so dealers stating I have driven the car, ready to buy today, here are the packages/color combos I will accept. I got back a variety of answers (and a few no answers), most X over MSRP, but I did find one that had my preferred option/color and did MSRP. Bought it online, had it shipped, and love it today.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to place the order back on January 12th with a dealer and salesperson I trust and family members have dealt with several times before. Ordering for this dealer and salesperson also assured me I will not be paying more the MSRP or have to worry about the car being transported across the country from another dealer.

Plus the extra time is allowing me to drive the current SUV while the roads are still snow, salt and ice covered save enough to avoid financing the car. My initial budget for a new car was quite a bit less than the GV70 and trim level I wanted so my car savings needed a few months to grow to the new amount.

FYI, both the Janesville Wisconsin Genesis and Waukesha Wisconsin Genesis dealers are owned by the same group, Boucher Auto Group.

I spoke to a Genesis concierge this morning about the order I placed early January and this individual seemed to be a lot more informed about the issues than others I have spoken to previously.

This is what I was told: Whether dealers can place build orders is currently dealer-specific. Some can/will and some cannot/will not. If a dealer does take a build order, expect a minimum of six months for delivery. This is because Genesis is currently facing what he described as "perfect storm" in production/shipping right now because of: (1) chip shortage, (2) shipping issues between Asia and US, (3) trucking issues in US, and (4) demand for the product. This makes sense because even though chip shortage issue reported to be improving, (2) and (3) are widely reported issues affecting US imports/inventory.

He further said that if your dealer provides you a time that is earlier than 6 months, your dealer is expecting something already in the pipeline and if this is the case, your dealer should be able to provide you a VIN one month before delivery date. I was told March, so if that ends up not being the case I'll know that dealership took my order on a wing and prayer that they will be able to find something within that time.

He also said while it is a short-term problem, it might not clear up until availability of 2023 model.

Not sure if any of this is actually helpful because it all it does is confirm the uncertainty surrounding the availability of the product and the reason why dealers are "market-adjusting" if they have inventory. I personally would buy elsewhere before paying over MSRP but that might not be everyone's opinion because it might truly be the only way to get one in a reasonable time. For me, it clears up all the conflicting information from the different dealerships (I was told two different things from two different dealerships).

Personally, if I knew what I know now, I probably would not have placed order with deposit because I'm not confident that it will end up coming through. Using cars.com and Autotrader to find and then negotiate with dealer that has inventory seems to be only way to ensure success from what I'm reading/hearing.

Omicron is playing havoc with chip and parts supply, but Hyundai is expecting supply to be improved starting the 2Q.
