  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I keep certain knick knacks in the spare tire well and noticed the other day that there was a clear plastic tube in the right back corner next to the spare tire that wasn't connected to anything on one side. I will try and post a picture but was wondering if it suppose to be connected to something or if I accidently dislodged it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Figure it out yet? I can check my trun tomorrow if you still need.

Vent tube for the battery. Leave it be...

It's the big black thing on the RH side of the trunk with the thick cables connected to it :D There is a vent tube on the battery that should be connected to the clear plastic tube that vents to the outside through a grommet in the trunk floor.

so that means mine came out and I need to push it through the the opening on the floor? sorry....i do not work on cars very much. i can figure stuff out if i have a manual or a diagram but it's not intuitive for me. thanks for the help!

Yes, I would push it through the hole. An inch or two should be fine.

Yep - mine's a 1/4" tubing about 8" long - all hooked up properly. At the front-facing end of the battery

May be actually useful - if it works

so i checked it again and my tube is actually connected to the floor but not the battery. where does it connect to the battery?

On my car, the battery has a little 90 deg. white poly fitting on the top left rear of the battery ***. The clear tubing attaches to the poly fitting.

*** left rear - when you're facing the trunk.

Nice pix - but I didn't see all that heat shielding on mine

Factory dynamat - should be on there.

Just checked - mine is barebones metal base (in Montecito blue).

You said "factory dynamat"? You didn't add it?

No Dynamat on mine either. Is Srobat Canadian, I see he drives 3.8 and mine and Kn5owa are 5.0?

Maybe the exhaust/muffler routing on the 3.8 is why Srobat gets Dynamat.

Heat being a known battery killer.

I have a 5.0 AWD(Canadian Model) and no insulation, just bare metal.

Interesting. Coulda sworn it was factory. Guess not.

Maybe it is factory - but only on the V6's.

It looks good either way. And the way I figure it, a nice cool battery in the trunk oughta last forever. I was quoted $400 by the dealer for a replacement.
