  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

play DVD while driving?

Only an idiot would drive and watch a DVD at the same time! period end of story. Here we are trying to make people aware of distracted driving...aka cell phones, reading newspapers, putting makeup on and now there are idiots wanting to watch a movie while driving. I just read tonight that a girl updating her Facebook acct killed a pedestrian in Chicago.

those are some very strong words. Are you sure it is the driver wanting to drive and watch? maybe it is for the the passengers.

who is trying to make anyone aware of anything? There is no mission on this site to alter the behavior of others. It is a site to share genesis/equus related things.

Be nice

I found this on another site, it is for allowing DVD video play while driving in a Hyundai.

The answer to Phil's driving with the DVD hack is: in the upper connector, cut the green wire with the orange stripe, and connect it to ground (the part that goes to the radio). I just soldered on a longer wire and attached it to one of the radio mounting screws. I found it because it hovers around 1-2V in ACC and ON, however when the engine is running it becomes 12V. Disclaimer: do so at your own risk, I claim no responsibility, and this probably voids your warranty. Unfortunately, it does not take away any of the nag screens.

Are you quoting what someone wrote on another site or are you explaining what you did and it works?

I'd have no problem trying this mod if you can clarify whether you tried this or not.
My other question is ...was this done on a Genesis?

Many thanks in advance

Quoting what I found on another site. I have NOT tried it. It was done on a 2011 Santa Fe.

add the hand brake cable to the dvd box or any else where ,just the negative is ok ..
but , guys. u had better not driving while watching dvd , it is not a good idea..

Watching a DVD while driving is an accident waiting to happen.

How would you feel if a friend or family member was killed by someone watching a DVD while driving?

I only watch movies when I am stationary in my driveway or hurtling down the expressway at 70+ mph.

Its illegal to do so in the USA, but when traveling in mexico, my kids like to watch DVDs. Anyone know how to by pass the parking mode so that it plays while drving?

Thanks for your ideas.....Salute!:grouphug:

That the OP simply asked a question and did not desire a debate on the "pros" and "cons" of playing a DVD while driving. It's apparent that the OP is intelligent and knows what is involved with playing a DVD while driving...we don't need lots of messages telling us how "stupid" it is or "how illegal" it is or whatever. That's not the point. Nobody needs to recite a litany of 'cons' or 'advise' the OP that it is dangerous, blah blah blah blah blah. :D

I'm confused... why does screen resolution matter? Are there other features BESIDES being able to use the screen while driving?

WHICH I DO NOT CONDONE, FYI.

Yea it would be nice to output the video/audio to a sep screen either for passenger or rear seat passengers without having to go the route of a sep. DVD player or players.

:)

Vim module is working great it is very easy to install, the instructions come with it and clearly explained the install, they're always after market pre mounted headrest to extend your dvd to the backseat. I can't wait, I get my 2012 genesis back from the shop tomorrow, I have upgraded 17 speakers of the lexicon system to retain the 7.1 surround with all JL audio products and two w3"s in a flush mount custom box in the trunk..whoo, hoo! Lexani 20"s next and there wont be a single mercedes, bmw, jag than could touch the look of the genesis..I love my car.I commend all Genesis owners.

I’m the driver. I drive with the navigation screen on. I would like to have the rear seat passengers view the dvd screen images. Why can’t we do this with a 2022 Genesis G90?

Just what we need is the ability for the driver to view a DVD while driving. Perhaps the driver can watch the DVD, text with both hands, and steer with his left knee while he operates the gas and brake petal with his right foot.

I know one thing. I don't want to be anywhere near you if you start to operate the DVD from where you can see it, even though all you want to do is just listen.

JMHO.
I travel a lot and we go on long roadtrips I really want my family and passengers to be able to enjoy a nice film. I grew up watching movies in the car with my dad he had a portable player installed into the dash.

Different generation. I grew up looking out the window. Found it very interesting, still do.

I grew up in the era where you could lay on the back window deck of the car while mom takes you to the grocery store. :)
