  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thank you, but that is just the symptom of my OCD; and it's worse than you realize - I also keep track of the 06 Mazda 3's mileage since 11/30/2005 :D

About 18 on average for the 4.6 and 22 for the 3.8 from digging around on fuelly.

On my R spec...

I have filled up 12 times since I got the car.
I averaged 21.3 mpg for the 12 tanks.

My High mpg on a tank was 26 mpg on a trip to Vegas
My low mpg on a tank was 18 mpg, all city driving.

I also don't drive slow, just know when to coast and not use much mpg.

Typically, with my 2009 3.8V6, I get around 18 in city driving and 28 highway. My best mileage, on round trip from Philadelphia to Boca Raton, was 32.5.

On relatively level interstate driving at 70 to 75 mph, mine actually gets 27-28 mpg, according to the average mpg display. I only did an actual calculation of a full tank burn once, but it did also show about 28 mpg. I'm pretty impressed for a 4000 pound car with a V8.

I got a hint of more what not to do...

1. Don't drive in NYC, my average read out is 14mpg, if that is reading high, that would put me down around 11 eh?

2. How to keep an "eco" light on - plain English - keep it under 2k rpm and under 77mph

obviously "proper" tire pressure is advisable as are low rolling resistance tires (your traction will go to sh!t but at least you can brag about gas mileage).

I am using Continental DWS for all season driving and Continental DW summer for some fun.

My wife manages 30+ as she's a fairly mellow driver, I can be fairly happy at 24-26mpg and I shift for my self, the tranny will kill you if you keep it in auto and get overly jumpy.

In conclusion, the car will give you the gas mileage you deserve, or earn. Could be as low as 10 and as high as low 30's.

Interesting. I've driven 5,000 miles in my R-Spec. My lowest mpg was 14.9 (50/50 city/highway) and my highest was 21 mpg (85% highway). My average is 17 mpg mostly highway.

And I don't have a heavy foot. Do you hypermile to get those numbers?

100, 1000, 10,000, 100,000 or however many Posts (re MPG) on the Forum, the "G" will always be a powerful/semi thirsty vehicle..Get Used To It...
"G" owners are keeping the economy rolling////:eek:
FWIW:- as the Tacho goes Up -> the Fuel gauge goes Down...:cool::cool:

After each fill up, in addition to recording the miles driven & gallon I also recorded my (best guessed) City/Hwy driving condition percentage for that tank. After 81 tanks, I just add up all the City or Hwy percentage and take the average.
Lol, I sound like a complete obsessive compulsive nut but it actually was not too bad as fueleconomy web site lets me download my fuel data into Excel. The plot of the Genesis' mpg shows a slight uptilt (at the start 18mpg now around 21mpg) with several spikes of 26 or 27mpg corresponding to vacation driving.

I've had my 09 4.6 for a little over a month. According to the display I get around 19 city and 25 highway.... I drive pretty aggressively and so far have only used premium gas. 61k on the odo

I"m guessing my "city" driving must be different from most folks who have answered this question. My "city" driving includes everything but Highway driving. My "city" driving is totally stop/go/stop/go on and on. Driving 2/10 of a mile before stopping is normal. Driving leisurely on a 2 lane road in a rural area is not city driving to me. I rarely get an opportunity to drive on rural roads as I live dead in the middle of a suburb with loads of houses and a large number of large malls and tons of strip malls. THAT is my city driving. Most of you must not drive under those conditions as I do good to get 16mpg in the city and that's driving very gently as there is no need to drive aggressively in the areas which I live.

On my only true road trip to Myrtle Beach and 3 days driving around Myrtle and the trip home, I registered 23mpg total. Very little driving around MB but none the less there was maybe 50ish miles while there that would not fall under the "highway" driving mode.

there's city driving and then there's New York city driving. Mixed city with "highway" I average 12-16 and that's Hyundai counter. My average speed is generally in the 14-18mph range, if people posted their average speed we can compare apple's to apple's :)

I was averaging about 13mpg with all city and no highway. Took a short roadtrip last weekend and got 30mpg - this was sticking the needle at about 65-70 for about 2 hours. Totally surprised as I thought we could only get 25 or 26 on the highway...

Just drove +2,000 miles from DC to all over eastern Canada. My highest tank got me 25.4 mpg (real world, not the computer estimate) cruising at a solid 75 mph on cruise control.

Yea mine was on the CPU so prob a bit less real world....
