Nope, so far it is for Hyundai use only.

I believe this has been discussed before and I think we came to that conclusion...

No songs. We presume it may store phone book info and NAVI address/destination info. But, those items may be stored in solid state memory within those actual devices. [just like your cell]

I wonder what type of processor is hooked up to the HDD? Maybe it is a RISC chip. Would be interesting to know the chipset, clock speed # of bits etc.
Presumably the Lexicon sound processing and DIS O/S is stored on the drive

Call Harman (Kardon) International in NY, the "maker of the Lexicon system, and ask them.
They can refer you to the Lexicon Product manager who can answer the question and then tell us all!

Maps are probably stored on the DIS HDD. Map Updates are provided by http://www.mapnsoft.com/. They charge between $200 and $250 but a new update should cost around $200. M&soft aka Mapnsoft is the provider of US map updates for Hyundai/Kia navigation systems.

Also M&Soft doesn't have an update available yet and M&Soft says you can't get them at the dealer. Only their phone number and online. It might come out In January since thats when other nav systems get their update. Map Database is made by Navteq and compiled by Harman/Becker. M&Soft simply distributes it.

There was a news article saying that Navteq is suppling maps for the US market. Navteq supplies maps for all USA hyundai Kia automobiles and M&Soft resells the discs.

I thought a few might think this is interesting. Something caught my attention while I was walking by the TV yesterday....an advertisement for a Mitusbishi car (didn't catch which one) and one of the selling points was a "40 GB hard drive navigation system". My thoughts were that since Hyundai shares engines with Mitsu this was more than a coincidence that the Genesis HDD was 40 GB. I also found it interesting that they advertised it as only for the nav system. If this is true it certainly peels back some skin of the onion as to why it seems only nav system info is located there. Same part & function??

Last I looked only 5-8gb (ish) was available on the drive... And I have not looked at it since having the last update.
