  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Go to a pro detailer. Don't try yourself.

Go to autogeek.net. There you will find how to videos and lots of products for car care.

My last car was black and they can be difficult to maintain. A Porter-Cable buffer is safe to use and does a good job along with any of a number of polishes and waxes.

Simplest solution is Turtle Black, a formula just for black cars and available anywhere car care products are sold. It works pretty well to minimize the appearance of hairline scratches.

Unfortunately, simply driving the car causes the appearance to degrade as a result of windblown dust and black is very susceptible. A good coat or multiple coats of a carnuba wax will help keep this kind of damage to a minimum.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Those scratches look pretty major - what happened? I've had four black cars in recent years and never had anything like that. It looks like it's had some pretty rough treatment.

I agree, and some of them aren't particularly circular. This looks a lot like the aftermath of sitting boxes on a trunk.

Stop dusting it with the dry microfiber towels. Between washes, you need to use a quick detailer; something from this list basically: http://www.detailedimage.com/Quick-Detailer-C17/

I use Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer because it's available locally at Autozone, O'reilly, etc. http://www.detailedimage.com/Meguiars-M43/Ultimate-Quik-Detailer-P386/22-oz-S1/#product-reviews

When you do wash it, you need to use the two bucket method: http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide/Washing-and-Drying/#two-bucket

To actually get the scratches out, follow this guide:http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide/Polishing/
Alternatively, find a reputable shop that uses methods similar to the ones I posted and NOT just the random detail shop down the road from you.

In this thread, I detailed the Gennie after having her professionally detailed. I now have all the equipment I need for paint correction/full professional detailing, but I didn't back then. I'll apologize for the large pictures. I could have sworn that I resized them before posting them three years ago. Just zoom your browser out to view the pictures better.

My 2015 sedan is metallic chocolate brown. Does Turtle or anyone else make a brown tinted cleaner/wax to mask some of the fine scratches I've collected over the winter (wind blown road sand and the like - not nasty scratches I see people inflict their cars with while using brooms to push snow off of their cars)? Preferably none of the 'as seen on TV' garbage.

You need a glaze: http://www.detailedimage.com/Glaze-C14/
