  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

I wanted to start this thread for something that came about in another thread. It wasn't the topic of the thread so I figured I'd start one regarding it. As you can see below, the top trim around my doors is uneven. If you look at the bottom trim pieces (just below the window), you can see that they align perfectly . The top portion is ever-so-slightly misaligned but the fact that the top is off and the bottom isn't, has me thinking. There are two cars that I have noticed this on (another thread member and my own) so far and I was wondering if you all have this "misalignment" as well. This is in the Genesis Motors General Discussion because the individual I saw it on has a G80 Sport and mine is a Hyundai Genesis (three year difference). That means it could be an issue for all production years so far, regardless of Hyundai or Genesis branding. Take some time to look at your car to see if it has this issue. While it may not be that noticeable or it doesn't really bother you, I'd still like to get an idea of how many cars on this forum it affects. Please post pictures as some can be more or less noticeable.

Thanks,

Luckily, I don't have that problem in my '18 g80 sport, mine are aligned perfectly. I also checked some picture of my previous '15 5.0 and it was ok too.

I'm nitpicking the h*ll out of this picture. The passenger side of your Sport and the 5.0 were fine. But, I could tell right away you have a bit of play in your trim on the driver's side. It's very slight but if you get about 5 inches from your monitor then about 3 feet, you can tell. If you can't tell by the chrome, look at the gloss black trim just underneath. I am not trying to point this out to you just because I want it to be like mine. It could end up affected a lot of cars which could make it recall-worthy regardless of how pronounced it may be.

Here is another set, from different angle and closer. Those aren't best quality and it might show a little distortion , I took them with my S+. I don't see anything wrong with it. Mind you, I have my reading glasses on and still can't see anything, lol

Has me thinking you should have the dealer fix it. Mine is perfect, as it should be. Stuff like that is one of many reasons why I stopped buying GM cars. See your dealer about it during the next service. Certainly not an emergency but still unacceptable.
