Getting familiar with the group...
Several of us appear to have a common problem with the voice activation feature, ie. either voice activation doesn't work at all, or if you press the voice activation button on the steering wheel, the sound system goes mute... permanently. The only means to clear the problem is to turn ignition off and restart the car.
I'm interested in what was the final resolution to your problem...
a) Software TSB updates only.
b) Replacement of Head unit only
c) Replacement of Amp unit only
d) Replacement of BOTH Head and Amp unit
e) Software TSB updates and Replacement of BOTH Head and Amp unit
I had the problem for 4-5 months now... basically I just avoided the problem by not using the car's voice activation feature. Just went for an oil change and mentioned the "No Sound Out of Speakers" problem. The dealer performed 3 software TSB updates related to the head, navi and amp unit Things were fine for 2 days... now I' m exactly back to square one with the sound system going mute once I touch the voice activation button on the steering wheel.
