  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought my 2019 G70 3.3t from Napleton in West Palm Beach. Good service for three years, but a bit of a travel. A new Genesis (Delray Genesis) opened half the distance from my home, so I figured I'll give them a try for my annual oil/filter/tire rotation service. Got there for a 1pm appointment, told it would take 3 hrs and they gave me a complementary LIFT home (with pick up when car done.) By 4:30 I called them asking the status of my car. Told I'd get a call back. No one called back. I kept calling and finally told that it had not been work on and was told it would be ready the next day at 4pm. Told them to send LIFT to bring me back to service so I could pick up the car. Never happened and I had to call them the next morning to get a response. Car still not done. Wife drove me to service and I took the car home to be serviced elsewhere.

Th problem:

Genesis/Hyndai are sort of an add-on to an existing Acura dealership. And the mating, at least for Genesis service, appears to be like pressing a square peg into a round hole. Seemed like they were inundated with too much work and not well enough organized to handle the work load. People were quitting, people were in training, lack of call backs, very jam-packed lots...just not the Genesis service or conditions I was used to. Bottom line: I don't think Delray Genesis Service is ready for prime time and wouldn't recommend it for service at this time. Now, to be honest, as the actual servicing of the car was not done, I can't attest to the quality of the service workmanship.

Unfortunately, this is the case with nearly all Genesis dealerships.

Do not forget that Genesis as a brand was only announced in 2015, and they did not even fully separate from their Hyundai badge until like 2017. Then, the pandemic hit in 2019 before they could start building dealerships and had to continue sharing with Hyundai, so realistically, this is still a new brand that is only beginning to build out their physical presence now. Essentially, we can be considered early adopters, and if you had a Genesis before 2021, you were basically a beta tester. :ROFLMAO:

I don't expect them to have the infrastructure to meet demands any time soon, especially with the current economic issues.

They planned to have 100 stand alone dealers back then but the Hyundai dealers took them to court and stopped it. There are a few that give the quality service, but not enough.
One of the problem with loaners today started with the car shortage of the pandemic. I don't know all the financial aspects but someone has to lay out a lot of money to put the loaners needed in the lot for your use.

Certainly hope they recover well, but it will take time

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember about that. Nevertheless, even if they had that, even an extra 100 is nowhere near enough.

Some reasonable points, however, I find it difficult to believe that after 6 years of producing a pretty good entry level lux to lux Genesis', that Genesis still can't establish itself with service centers to go along with the quality of their cars. But, then we all know that the the Kia-Hyundai-Genesis cars offer the best bang for the buck and it could be that they are looking to make up the money that they "give away" on their cars?

To be fair, they did resumed building as soon as the pandemic "over." It still takes several months to do everything from zoning/permits to hiring and training new staff, so they really only had little over a year to do this without all the obstacles of pandemic times.
