  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Possible more powerful/track-focused G70?

There's a poster over on the Stinger forum who happens to be an engineer for Kia here in the states (has a very nice collection of rides, btw) who just purchased his 1st Kia (Stinger, of course).

From what he can say, states that he's working on a more powerful variant of the Stinger (refers to it as the R-Spec, but probably will be called something else if it makes it to production) w/ upgrades to the suspension.

The jump in power won't be coming from the new 3.5T however, but from the 3.3T w/ increased boost.

So, if this ever gets to production, means that we'll be seeing it before the Stinger gets its facelift (which presumably, is when it'll get the new 3.5T).

Can't see Genesis letting the Stinger outdo the G70 in performance, so if we end up seeing a more powerful variant of the Stinger (not including the eventual upgrade to the 3.5T mill), we'll likely see something similar for the G70.

One possibility may be the G70 getting the new 3.5T before the Stinger.

We already know there won’t be one. The car will just progress naturally with newer poweplants as they are developed.

Yeah... That upgrade is most likely just going to be applied to the Stinger. I think the Stinger tries to appeal more to the performance crowd - too bad it's a boat.....an ugly boat. :c

The G70 is the sportier/more track-oriented of the 2 models; the Stinger being the more comfort oriented Gran Turismo.

While Genesis has stated that they don't have plans to do a performance sub-brand as of yet (agree that need to get their basic lineup out first), that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't be doing special trims.

Kia is doing so to keep the interest up in the Stinger and not let it get stagnant.

Just like how Lexus is doing a Black Line special edition for the IS F-Sport.

We've already have (kind of) seen this w/ the Dynamic and Design editions for the G70.
