If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Does anyone know if the 2016 Genesis comes wired for the power trunk switch located inside the deck lid? I’d like to install a switch for my wife but I really don’t know what’s all needed.

Thanks

Have a 16’ Ultimate which has the power trunk switch, unfortunately couldn’t say whether the lower packages have the wiring in place.
The switch also has the ability to lock all doors.

Thanks for the reply. I asked my dealer service rep and they didn’t know...go figure

If they have a wiring diagram from the service manual they should be able to figure it out. You may do better asking one of the techs that is familiar with the wiring diagrams.

I think it's a wishful myth that the lower models of a car range will have the wiring in situ for options that are only fitted to the top models.

In some cases the connector might be there but you still don't have the motor actuator and other necessary hardware to operate the trunk.

Mrskin: I think you would also need all the motors and mechanism to give your wife power trunk.
Scottish Guy: I have seen many examples over the years of wiring in place for missing options: just think of how many fewer part numbers/styles of harnesses the manufacturer would have to design and inventory.

Thanks all, and I’m going to pull some panels in the trunk and snoop around. I’d also think manufactures would have one harness made and if no power trunk fine...but if ones ordered on the line wiring is there!
