Hi there. Direct messaging is an option that opens up for each account based on several algorithms in the software. It's an unfortunate and necessary evil to protect members against people signing up to send members malicious links behind the scenes...

The algorithm has to do with activity, as Sal pointed out. This may make you a step closer to hitting the mark.

Yes, and the way people respond to those posts affects the algorithm's scoring. For example, if a post gets reported, that can hold up the process. If that reported posts receives a negative action, same deal.
