If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys,
I have a 2012 Rspec sedan and have a couple questions. I'm pretty sure any sedan with the tech package will be the same.
My CD player doesn't go to the next CD when one finishes the last track, it just starts over on same CD on track one. I dont think it's in the settings, I've tried different settings and I can't get it to go to the next CD automatically. I have to go to next one manually. Is this normal? The dealer told my wife " I can't find anything wrong with your CD".
Second question. When the car is locked and I go to open the trunk leaving the key fob in my pocket, the trunk won't open using the soft pad in the lip of trunk using my hand. I have to unlock the doors with the fob and then I can open it with the soft pad in the lip of the trunk. I thought it used to work when the doors were locked but can't swear to it. Shouldn't I be able to use the soft pad when the car is locked to open the trunk as long as I have the key fob?
Full disclosure....we had a very minor rear end collision and the lower plastic bumper was replaced.
The local dealer is no help but I know some of you guys can tell me what's right and what's not.
Thanks in advance for your help.
By the way, I love this car! My wife drives it but I get behind the wheel every now and then. Nicest and fastest car I've ever owned and I've owned a bunch. Best value on the road. IMHO.
My wife has had LOTS of positive comments about it. She's walked up on two different guys taking a close look at it trying to figure out what it is. I have wings on trunk and wheels and steering wheel.
Thanks again for the help

CD/DVD operation is normal. Either change discs manually or by voice.
Check in your glove box for the valet switch. Disengage it and your trunk will open as you want. Sometimes manuals can accidentally switch it to how you're describing things.
Both of these are in the manual btw.
;)

And, by the way, get a low profile USB drive and you'll never use the CD player again.

Wow...so the cd won't automatically change when it finishes playing one?
Yea I know about the glove box switch, read about it in the owners manual, but I still can't open the trunk unless the car is unlocked.
To be clear, I SHOULD be able to open the trunk with the soft pad when car doors are locked as long as I have the fob, right?
Thanks for the response.

Yes you should. And closing it should relock everything. You mentioned that your dealer found nothing wrong with the changer, as expected. Did you ask about the trunk? Hell if I know, but maybe the valet switch is faulty and that's causing the problem?
And while many people use the USB sticks, you should be using DVD or DVD-A instead of CD. You have a concert hall on wheels, pick yourself up some 5.1 audio!
Good luck!

Thanks again. The dealer thought the trunk was ok...well have a chat later. We have a USB with a lot of music on it but we also have some CDs that we like and haven't put them on the USB. I'm not very techie. I also have three dvda. That is the best sounding music I've ever heard. Just find it odd that the cd has to be changed manually. I can live with that.
I really do appreciate you helping me out.
Now to the dreary task of getting the dealer to fix it!

Sounds like the proximity antenna for the trunk (actually it's in the bumper) was damaged or not properly re-connected. So the car isn't "seeing" the fob. Have you tried using the other fob as a test? If it works... the first fob has a whimpy battery. If neither work... try holding a fob near the driver's door handle and working the trunk. If the trunk opens now, you've proven the bumper antenna is not functioning.

Edit: there is also an antenna inside the trunk (near the rear seat backs) - that is a different antenna! It's purpose is to sense fobs left inside the car when you try to lock the car... or when you try to start the engine. If there is a fob in the trunk of my car when I close the trunk lid the beep alarm sounds a looooooooonnnnnnggggggggg time.

Correction/update: holding the fob near a door handle will NOT enable the trunk release if the vehicle is locked... I tried that this morning. The bumper mounted proximity antenna [/i]must[/i] be the one to communicate with the fob to get the trunk to unlock. So if your bumper mounted antenna is busted... trunk won't unlock with the hand button while the rest of the car is locked.

The amber lights on the car should flash once when the trunk is opened with the main doors locked - just to let you know the alarm is going to a pause mode. When the trunk closes, the amber lights will blink again as the alarm goes back to ARMed mode - just as if you'd hit the door lock button on the fob. I don't know if the alarm ARM beep would also sound, I have the arm/disarm beep totally disabled on my car (it's an option on the DIS menu).

Yes the trunk beeps on close when re-engaging alarm on the 2009 4.6.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. Do you know where the antenna is located? Is it something that comes with the bumper or is it something that the body shop would have to take off the old bumper and put it on the new one when it was replaced. I will see if I can find it but not sure what I'm looking for. Thanks again for the help.
