  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone else had this problem?
I have a recently bought 2015 Genesis sedan with the 6 cyl motor. While cruising down the highway with the cruise control on, with no cars ahead of me, my cruise control suddenly disengages and I get the message "SCC CANCELLED"; "CHECK SCC RADAR".When I try to re-engage the cruise control, I get the message: SCC CONDITIONS NOT MET".
I took the car into my local Hyundai dealer and described the problem, and they were no help; they said everything checks out ok and they can't find any problem.
Wondering if I should take it to another dealer?

You will get the SCC cancelled message if you are in cruise mode but are intentionally using the gas pedal, speeding up to get past traffic for a period of time. That is normal

You will get the CheckSCC if the front plastic plate is snow, ice, dirt, heavy rain covered. Under normal conditions it should not show up.

If you are seeing this under ideal conditions, obviously something is wrong. The potential diagnostic problem though, is it is intermittent and the dealer cannot see it when they test. These are the worst type of problem to diagnose. You'd be better off with a total failure that is easily found.

Another thing that may trigger those messages is if a rear wheels slips as they might on black ice or snow. Seems unlikely in Texas, but I know there has been some crazy weather around recently.

I'd definitely recommend trying another dealer. Some Hyundai dealers' service departments seem to view the phrase "test drove vehicle, could not reproduce problem" as the holy grail of automotive repair, but they're not all like that. If the second dealer isn't any better than the first, go to the dealership and get it documented every time it happens (so there's a record that it's a recurring problem), then call Hyundai customer care.

If you have a passenger in the vehicle when that happens, have them video it (don't do it yourself while driving) with their phone.

The dealer will at least have to acknowledge that there is an issue. I hate the "test drove vehicle, could not reproduce problem" response, that's much harder to say when there is video evidence.

I have a repeating problem with cruise disengaging. Clear weather smooth roads no traffic. Sometimes 30 miles sometimes 150 miles. Can’t seem to correlate to anything. Clears after stopping car and restarting. Dealer can not diagnose issue.

Intermittent problems are difficult to find unless there is a specific code or known issue. Give these service guys a break here, once the problem becomes consistent/constant finding it is relatively easy. Imagine having a flat tire and filling it with air and it never going flat again....where is/was the hole?....same diagnosis "could not reproduce problem".

Well said.
