  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well the list keeps getting longer.
1. alignment was off when i bought it took in they fixed it, now it is worse
2. dash rattles bad taking in Friday
3. got in car yesterday and no sound on stereo, took to dealer and they pulled a fuse for 30 seconds put back in and good, asked them what caused it. answer " i don't know"
4.today driving home lights went on and off while it was sunny out when i had on auto lights.

this isnt going like i thought it would buying a Hyundai.

I purchased a 2012 4.6 about three weeks ago. Overall I have to say I am very impressed with the car. In fact it is exceeding expectations in the performance category...discovered the ESC button.

That said my alignment is the one thing needing attention. I took the car in and left it at Rosen Hyundai in Algonquin, IL for a correction. As soon as I pulled away I had a uneasy feeling. Well, things seem to have turned out well. They confirmed the car was out of spec. It took them a day to get this dialed in but they got it right.

They mentioned a couple of specifics regarding steps necessary to correctly align the car. I should have listened better. If you don't get satisfaction after the next attempt I would consider another dealer.

I would also look for reviews on the service department at your dealer.

Good luck!

Auto lights go on and off when going in and out of dark shade areas. Dash rattle is strange, its the first I have read about. Alignment should have been taken care of before delivery.

Find out if your Genesis had "issues" before you took delivery. Are you sure it was new? How many miles did it have?

Here's what I would do:

1) Go to hmaservice.com - sign up if you haven't already done so. Go to "Telematics Information" on the left side. Enter your VIN #. Check to see if any work was done to your car OTHER THAN a pre-delivery inspection. If something major happened to your car, you'll find it on there. It is common to see the driver's visor being replaced on there, for example.

2) Assuming nothing shows up on that report, I think you'll be able to get the alignment and dash rattle sorted by the dealer. As for the audio issue... were you using XM right before that happened, by any chance? Some folks on here have mentioned that when XM puts out their "free trial" days/weeks, that it causes the Lexicon to crash. That's just a guess though.

Good luck, and keep us posted...

car had 25 miles on it and the lights came on in the light no tunnels nothing middle of the day then went off in same light, then came on again. did this over and over

The rattle in dash and auto lights may be related. Could be a loose connector in a wiring harness in the dash. Just a guess.

Sorry to hear that, man. Had rattle issues with Acura. Maddening to think that much money was spent and the car had rattles. Acura fixed them all. Hopefully Hyundai will too.

The no audio problem has struck a number of us. I've had it twice. Do you know where there fuse is located to fix the problem? Is it under the hood or is it the large fuse on the left side of the body that you access by opening the driver's door?

Hyundai radios suck.

left side of inside of car. the 30 amp with yellow plastic wrapped around it

If you have the auto light dimming turned on make sure you do not have anything laying on the dash. This is where the sensors are location. I had the same issue and found that a vehicle pass that I had laying on the dash was my problem. Works great as it is suppose to. I have never had a problem with the audio and listen to XM most of the time.

1. Dealer problem - they should've done the alignament before delivery if needed. I didn't know that a brand new car needed alignment but anything is possible.
2. Genesis had a few problems in the past with rattles- very minor in nature and not nearly as bad as Acura or Lexus.
3. Had the same problem on my BMW 750i. Dealer said it was a software glitch.

I have my car for over 5 months now and like vast majority of owners from this forum, never had a problem. Actually this car is more solid and more predictable than any other german uber-sedans I owned before.

dropped off the car today and they couldn't fix the alignment and are calling Hyundai engineers to see how to fix it. I have asked for a different car as i see this would be a continual issue and i am not happy with it.

Is this a brand new car? The only thing I can think of is bad/worn-out suspension parts- this will preclude any attempts to perform a succesful allignament.

If they can't seem to find the alingment problem, it may have been caused from the trip over on the boat. Might have been strapped down too tight. GM had this problem with the Pontiac G8. Just about all of them have the problem. Premature upper bushing failure. Lower A arm failures.

As for the radio, I had a similar problem. Radio came back after a few days. Hasn't happened since. That was about 5 months ago.

Alignment: there is a TSB that has all of the correct alignment settings. Go on to the Hyundai service web site and register. Once they send you a user name and password, go in and look for 12-SS-001 under chassis. Then go have your dealer do an alignment and give you the before and after print out.

wouldnt a dealer know about this? Kind of what they are suppose to do right?

Well i guess i will have to change my name on here as they havent figured out how to fix the alignment so i asked for a r-spec instead and they had a new one that was a demo with a few thousand miles on it and it will be same price as my 4.6 was. I pick it up tomorrow
