I purchased my Genesis new in July 2015. I have had the battery fail at the three year mark and the trunk struts replaced at the dealer Feb. 2019. The new struts are not lifting the trunk very well at this time. I found if I clean the trunk seal often and the trunk lid where it meets the rubber seal, there is some improvement. Sometimes it lifts very slowly and other times it doesn't. My worst problem occurred when I tried to recently unlock the car with my fob and all doors would open except the rear door behind the driver. I read the forum and it was suggested that an auto locksmith might help. I went to the dealership first and they wanted to break the outside handle and try to unlatch the door. I did not like their solution and went to a locksmith and he broke my window glass trying to see inside. I then went to a body shop and they had to break several additional items including the latch itself, but solved the problem and its been repaired and working fine at this time. No damage was done to the outside or inside panels that is obvious. If damage occurred during repair it was replaced.
I really love driving this car. Its the best and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, that is until the rear door latch problem occurred. I was surprised that the factory engineers did not consider to provide an easy solution to open a door if the latch or attachment cable failed.
