  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Programming a used Smartkey? Can it be done?

Thanks, but I already have the Smartkey and laser key blank (from different ebay vendors). I just have to find a dealer, and I'm in Florida. The selling dealer (on the east coast of Florida) won't even take my calls on the subject, or call back. The local dealer says it can't be reprogrammed.

I do have a 30 day money-back guarantee on the Smartkey, which is why the deadline.

Anyone know of any dealers Tampa-St. Petersburg-Bradenton-Port Charlotte-Ft. Myers areas of Florida that can and will reprogram a Smartkey?

Much obliged, Deadrun.

They're a pretty good size operation with a good reputation. They have always taken good care of me and no BS at all from Sales or Service.

If the smart key was already programmed and you trying to program it again to a different vehicle it won't take the program. The fob has to be new, and I wouldn't recommend to buy it from ebay unless it's a OEM part.

If used Genesis FOB cannot be reprogrammed, how have several forum members reported having it done at the dealer? Since I have had this done with a used OEM FOB purchased used on eBay, I am absolutely sure that it can be done for the 2012 Genesis sedan - and for one third the cost of buying new OEM at the dealer.

Can I reprogramming a 2011 FOB for my 2015?

I was told that the FCC part number (printed on the circuit board inside) must match. I purchased a smart key from www.replacemyremote.com for $90. The FCC number on both my original key and the one I purchased was SY5HMFNA04. I had Pop-A-Lock come to my work and program the key and cut the internal key for $110. It works perfectly. On the www.replacemyremote.com website, it states that part SY5HMFNA04 is compatible with 09-14 Hyundais, so I doubt it will work for your 2015.
