  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Proposed transmission fluid change 2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD Sedan

So it's an old thread..... sorry for necro... but I'm at 55k and the previous owner was in NJ so I assume a lot of stop and go....

Do you guys think Valvoline could handle the flush? I know the rap some of those quickie joints get, but I personally know these guys and trust their work... I am just not sure if they have a fluid in stock that would meet the spec?

Well I didn't go to Valvoline. I ended up going to the dealer for it and the transmission flush at 58,000 Miles cost me $300. At that price I'm happy. I used to work at that dealership and I have nothing but faith in the mechanic they assigned the car to. They actually didn't carry the fluid in stock they had to order it.

Glad it worked out. Do you notice a difference?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you review a lot of forum write ups, it shows that the fluid can become quite contaminated with suspended particles in as little as 30,000 miles. I plan on keeping the car a long time and this is a simple, cheap way to help it.
Hi there 👋
What's the type of transmission fluid for a 2020 Genesis G80 3.8 which as you know has an 8 speed automatic?
