  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys I am looking into purchasing a Genesis Coupe but am really wanting the proximity keyless entry and the push button start. Yes I know it is kind of a gimmick and that you don't really need it but it does still seem pretty cool to have.:)

I live in Canada and from looking at the Ebrochure in the sticky topic it says that the 2.0T premium comes with the buth button start and proximity entry. Can anyone verify this if you own a 2.0T premium in Canada or does it only come in the 3.8?

I'm sure it does not. The ebroshure must be for the US spec vehicle. Also the US Premium 2.0T does not have leather. In Canada it's only on the 3.8.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2.0T Premium Auto, either Grey or the darker blue. Just waiting to sell my current vehicle.

I plan to investigate adding the proximity Key/push start after the fact. I considered buying in the US but I wanted leather more than the push start on the premium.

Can't answer your question directly about what is on the coupe. But the keyless entry and push button start on my Genesis sedan is a feature that I have likey allot. Highly recommended in my opinion. It also keeps my wife from digging in her pocket book each time to find the keys at the bottom when she tries to get in the car before me. This feature for me has become required vice desired due to the ease of convenience. Just one person's input. Steve

As for keeping the wife from digging in her purse each time to find the keys, my wife does not do that with her Continental. It has the number buttons on the outside door as most Ford products, to get in the car. She keeps her keys inside the car in a place where they can't be seen. When she returns to the car, she unlocks the door by punching in her secret number.

Can't do this with the Genesis because if you leave the keyfob in the car, anyone can enter, and drive off. :(

Thanks for your reply guys. I have placed an order for a 3.8 model to be picked up in a few days but have another question.

I was comparing the U.S. hyundai site with the Canada one and noticed the 3.8 Grand Touring in the U.S. comes with a backup warning detector whereas I was unable to find anything about that on the Canadian site which offers just the 3.8 and the 3.8 GT which I believe is the equivalent of the U.S track version since it has the brembo brakes.

This option is pretty important for me as I live in a complex and my parking stall underground is right next to a pillar on one side and a car on the other that usually parks close to my side of the line plus the fact that this will be my first time driving a manual car so I don't want to accidently smash into something when I am parking on a normal basis.

I have had both the Ford keypad and the Genesis proximity fob. I will take the proximity fob hands down. I simply move it to a pocket on whichever trousers I am wearing and forget it. I don't have to stand by the car in rain or snow and punch in a number.

Can i buy a push button start and get it installed in my 3.8?

I'm really confused on the push button start thing because I've seen different info in different places. I'm in Canada, and there could even be differences from the US to Canada models I guess. I would like to have it, but I also prefer the 2.0T model for balance and aftermarket possibilities :)

A "Premium" variant of the 2.0T model is also available, coming in at $24,250 for the manual variant and $25,500 for the Siftronic automatic. The Premium edition gains a power driver's seat, 360-watt Infinity audio with 10 speakers, push-button start, auto-dimming mirrors, a tilt-and-slide power sunroof, and navigation system.

So.... anyone know for sure? And if the 2.0 in Canada does not come with it, can it be installed either by dealer or aftermarket? The dollar is really strong right now... maybe I'll have to drop down to NY and pick one up there :D

Ok so from my (potential) dealer:

All of the GT Models, including the 2.0L T have the push button starter.

This is in Ontario, Canada. I will provide more details after I hit the dealership on Friday, but I believe in Canada, you get the push starter but not the proximity entry on GT (USA Track) and Premiums.
