  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

:mad:I am getting a false visual warning from the right rear sensor. Visual only, on ALL the time. Audible warning works OK if you come close to it. It's not dirty, ( I cleaned it ). Anyone any experience in this regard ?

only when snow or ice is on them, or heavy snow is falling. You may need a service visit.

i had the same thing happen on mine, except it was the front sensor. The service dept replaced the sensor and now all works fine.

Now they have ALL failed ! None work at all. Should be quite an experience with Hyundai Canada.......shudder.....

No, the switch is on, blue light. But ALL the sensors ( sound & visual ) are dead !! Oh joy, now I have to deal with Hyundai Canada who don't know the front of the car from the back. ( And don't care )

Waki, I have the exact same issue: false, visual only, warning from the right rear sensor for a week or two and and now total parking assist system failure. I've had no time yet to take to the dealer for repair. Please keep me posted when and how the issue is resolved and I will do the same.

Re: Proximity sensor false warning & MORE

:mad:Took the car to Hyundai this am re: sensors. On the way, DIS system froze up. No Nav, no radio selections, no bluetooth. Everything frozen. Dealer has NO idea now I'm at the mercy of Hyundai Canada. ( Woe is me ! ) Sounds like a new HEAD UNIT too. 'Cept there are no NEW headunits, they are rebuilts that usually introduce additional problems.
Car goe back Monday and they are supplying me with a car.
Hyundai suggested removing ALL the parking sensors ! ( For testing ) Hope the supplied vehicle has A/C, may be in it all summer !

I'm using Hamilton Hyundai. They are 'OK' , it's Hyundai Canada where the problem is. They are very unknowledgeable & NOT accomodating at all !

My two front sensors are broken.... or need to be reset.

When I start the car I get three quick beeps... then the front sensor flashes for as long as the car is not moving. Once I start driving, the other indicators (MPG, Time, etc) come back. I'm taking it in for service on Tuesday.... Is this covered under warranty, right?

AN UPDATE ! As I feared, Hyundai had the car for two days & couldn't fix it !!! They changed a $1700 module to NO avail. Now they confirm what I told them at the outset. It's the right, rear sensor that is at fault. It is the primary sensor & if it fails ALL go down. It has been ordered & will be replaced next week. I will keep you updated.
A talk with all involved confirmed they MUST follow Hyundai Canada's recommendation or they don't get paid ! They also admitted candidly that Hyundai Canada have NO qualified tech reps for the Genesis!!! They are frustrated too.

 I went through the same scenario with the tilt wheel. The mechanic knew it was a logic / programming fault in the control module, but Hyundai insisted on installing limit switches where there were none originally, R&R the step motors, and an electronic reset of the whole vehicle. Last they connected the car to Korea for over 3 hours to download non existent data. A total of 9 visits to the dealership, some over 4 hours in length (diagnose, come back when Hyundai has an idea, return for further diagnosis, return on a new idea etc). Each time no loaner. It seems Hyundai Canada does not care how frustrated their car owners become trying to get their cars repaired.

I will be seriously considering selling the car before the electronics warranty expires, as just the repair of the tilt wheel could have cost well over $4,000 in labor alone. Scary to think if something major happens outside the warranty.

Vega:

Have you used the post in here that details how to 'reset' the steering column ? Hyundai doesn't know anything about it but someone has discovered it.
If you can't find it let me know & I'll look. Good luck.

I had the same issue with my car (parking sensors). First the passenger side rear went off, then about 2 weeks later all of the sensors showed as being bad. It turned out that both the passenger rear and driver's front needed to be replaced. All's well now.

Replaced BUT NOT fixed ! New right rear sensor works fine now but problem has transferred to middle sensors ! Woe is me.....

Right rear sensor finally replaced. Problem still there for an hour then ALL returned to normal. Still working fine. Go figure !:)
Thanks Hyundai Canada.....KIDDING !!!!!

I am experiencing the same problem, although intermittent. What was the eventual fix? Also, what was the service number so my Techs can review?
