  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody having a problem with proximity unlocking on 2023 GV70? This occurs intermittently with driver or passenger doors. occurs with both fobs. Can always lock but not always unlock with fob in my pocket.

What else is in the pocket? Phones can disrupt the signal, other items too.

Thanks. Usually have my phone with me. not sure if it was in the same pocket but I’m going to test this out and get back

The iPhone nearby the fob or distant did not correlate with this issue. It’s really quite random. Happened once this am. Did not unlock with phone about 15 feet away. The rest of the day proximity unlock works even with phone in contact with the fob

I wonder if the issue is related to the touch sensor on the handle instead of the smart key?
If your mirrors fold out when you approach, then the smart key is working (assuming they are set to do so).

Yes the mirrors fold out on approach. Anybody know how the unlock sensor works. I noticed that sometimes it triggers just by inserting my fingers without touching. Is it an optical mechanism?

It is a capacitive sensor. (Similar to the touch screen on your phone.) Actually touching it is not always required, depending on the electric field of you hand. Also, many kinds of gloves can stop it from sensing you.

Just to add to the mystery- unlock sometimes fails in passenger door and sometimes driver door. Without gloves. I would think unlikely that both sensors are defective but maybe?

Is it when the car is wet or iced over?

I find if I try to open the door in one movement it won’t work. Needs to be a two step process. Put my fingers on the back of the handle, brief pause then pull the handle. Not just a Genesis thing. My two previous Mercedes did the same thing.

On my GV60P, the doors unlock when I approach but if I had gone to the hatch instead, and it opened so I could put stuff in, after closing it and walking to the front door it does not unlock on approach. I have to touch the sensor in the handle. Could that be happening with you?

Thanks APS. Your solution seems to work. I’m thinking that in cold weather the unlock response is a little slower.
