  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The other day I was getting ready to pull into fast traffic and I may or may not have turned off stage 1 of the ECS (dont remember if I did or not, I think I did) then proceeded to pull out and get up to speed.

Right after I did, I noticed my hazards were on. I dont remember any warning chimes etc. that may have triggered so I hit the flashers in the center console to turn them off.

Question is, did something I do cause the hazards to turn on? (Wheel spin with ECS off? I didnt feel any) or did I somehow manage to hit the flashers on accident and not realize it?

Looked in the manual and I didnt see anything about them being tied to ECS. And forum search didnt turn up anything.

I haven't had it happen since then and I'm not too worried about it, as it makes the most sense to have been accidentally turned on by me when pulling into traffic, but I just cant imagine why my hand would have been anywhere near there. I almost exclusively use touch screen or jog dial/steering wheel to mess with media etc.

My bet you accidently hit the emergency flasher button, even tho the location makes it hard to be an accidental push but could happen I guess.

You know after having just driven the car again I noticed it's suspiciously close to the bottom of the touch screen, and since it takes a good 10-20 secs for the confirm screen to come up I could have been hovering near it and pressed it and bumped the hazards while waiting for an opening in the traffic.

Cased closed guys!

Go to settings and change it to auto confirm, that way you don't have to mess with it.

I looked all over for that setting, even looked at the DIS manual and followed it, couldnt find it, maybe it was changed to be default? It does go away on it's own

It will auto confirm after a short time. I don't know of any setting for it but I usually just ignore it and it goes off after about 30 seconds. Been that way on four cars now.

Agreed. I don’t think the emergency flasher are connect to any other system in the car other than the push button.

I know it's been a few year, But I have a 12 Genesis and been having problems with the hazard light coming on randomly at work in the parking lot or at home sitting in the garage go out the next morning they are on and the battery about dead, Did you find out the problem maybe it's my problem too...Thanks

Good morning,

I have been having the same problem with my 12 sedan. Hazards come on randomly and sometimes stay in draining the battery. Any ideas. Dealer really doesn’t want to try and track down the issue.

Hello,

I’m having the same problem with my 2012 Genesis. Did you ever figure out the problem with the flashers/hazards going off intermittently?

Yes, it's a faulty flasher relay.

Yes, you can get a pair pliers and remove the relay it's a hard to pull out but it will come out, make sure you disconnect the battery first.

so just wondering if anyone found this as a fix?
