  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yep, finally signed for the first available 5.0 Ultimate AWD Montecito Blue/ Ivory. There are none in the first shipment which entered Canada not that long ago but apparently there will be a steady stream. The way it works is they confirm the sale with Hyundai Canada so basically it goes by a first come first serve basis. Thinking maybe a month or less and I should be behind the wheel, I hope.:D

I did go for a long test drive this morning with only my wife on board. The heads up is awesome. The entire car is so different you cannot compare to the older generation. The suspension is much better, the road holding and cornering is simply phenomenal in comparison to the old as I did hit this pretty hard, I was blown away. The seats are a huge improvement. The cabin is quieter and the transmission is simply seamless. If you did not hear the changes you would be hard pressed to feel it. Overall the entire car is a major improvement all around.

This was on a loaded V6 as the V8 had not been prepped yet however I will go for a thorough ride with the V8 tomorrow. The V6 was nice but no where near the power of my present V8. I did sit in and startup the V8 and check out the diferances. The suede headliner is really nice and classy and the 9.2 inch screen nice but the DIS is a must have IMHO. I have gotten used to this in my previous gen and this is definitely the way to go. The touch screen works well but is much more distracting to the driver in comparison. Making it DIS and touch screen is great for the passenger to fiddle with it if required though.

3 Thumbs up Hyundai, great job. :grouphug:

I still have not seen any on my dealer's lot yet. I checked yesterday.

Forgot to mention, the rear rubber on the 5.0 is impressive. Boy oh boy are they wide, really looks nice. Tire size in the rear on the V8 is 275/35R19. This is slightly narrower than the rear rubber on a BMW M5, 3/4" to be exact.

^ Midnightsun is getting an HTRAC 5.0 since he's in Canada.

Btw, MNS - congrats are a bit premature since the key fob isn't in your hand, so until then.

You'll have something to look forward to! Nice choice!

I'd love to see your car once you get it...
Can i ask how much was the OTD price?

Thanks

Wow, its really that better?...I mean my 2012 is sweet....now I'm really excited...few more weeks and I'm diving in!

hmm, i drove the 2015 V6 with signature/tech.
i don't think there was a big difference in ride quality, road noise, or transmission smoothness.

all i felt was that the car felt more solid.
but it was only a 15-20 minute drive, so i'm not sure.

This was actually the second time I drove the 2015, like you the first time I was thinking nice but not that much different. Second time around I was with no sales person and had the time to test things out the way I wanted to. This is when reality of the improvements really showed up. The second time the novelty of everything new was not there nor the anticipation of something totally amazing after reading all the hype. Heck I even red lined from 1st to 3rd to test acceleration of the V6, want the V8 as although quick enough, this car is designed to do much better than the 6 can offer.

Will get back to everyone tonight after the third test drive, again alone with a decked out V8 AWD. ;)

Of those three, I wouldn't expect much of any difference in transmission, since it is probably the same or very close to previous models (but with different shift points, etc).

It's a huge improvement over the previous generation, I love my 2013 but the new Genny is all around a better car. The ride, handling etc. on the V8 ultimate is impressive and I like the CDC suspension system. You can really feel a difference in the cars handling in sports mode....when you kick it in you can instantly feel a change in the gearing and the car just rockets off with ease and doesn't seem to be fighting to find the right gear. The suspension is much stiffer and body roll is minimal around corners, the seats are also much more supportive. The engine bay on the V8 just looks stunning and it's a part of the car that is hardly ever seen lol, I also love the exhaust note...it has a low rumble when getting on it.

I was sitting at a light just yesterday in a silver Santiago silver V8 Ultimate and a guy was in the turn lane next to me in his Genny, when the light changed he got out of the turn lane and followed me looking at the car. It's a head turner once again... though I feel they kinda left the back end of the car lacking a distinct look.

The level of luxury and comfort inside is also a nice improvement, it just feels much more refined more then anything albeit with a few buttons in awkward places still on the left side of the steering wheel/dash area. The buttons for the trunk, gas and rear sun shade need to be moved back to the door and away from the safety feature buttons.

The technology is also much improved, there are still a few quirks with the navigation system and how well the voice recognition works. The Navi still doesn't work as good as my $99 Garmin and only has a fraction of the alternate routes that it should, though I feel this is much more a MapNSoft issue of poor updates etc. The HUD is something I didn't think would mean much but to be honest it's one of the features in the car I'm liking the most. It's very customizable with what information can be displayed and crystal clear in all driving conditions (as noted before buy a nice pair of non-polarized sun glasses like Serengeti and it's still visible). The user interface is really intuitive for those who are tech oriented and having both a DIS knob and touch screen is a nice combination, it makes entering in addresses etc. much faster.

From a safety standpoint the car is simply amazing, the LKA (Lane Keep Assist) is very responsive and not overbearing IMO. It is confirmed that if the steering wheel doesn't feel feedback within 15-20 seconds of activating it will shut off, a warning appears on the HUD telling you to keep your hands on the wheel and if you fail to respond the next message tells you that the system has been disengaged.

I'm thinking about leasing one if we can come to #'s on my 2013, that way in a couple of years or so when the changes come to the existing model I'll be able to just trade her in and roll into a new lease. I guess it's a nice way to be an early adopter and not be stuck for more than a few years a time.

I just ordered a 2015 tech package V6. I traded in my 2009 tech package V8. I am very much looking forward to delivery. I am hoping I am wrong, but in looking at some posts, I think the cool tech in the app that I was so much looking forward to, may not be available at all in Canada? Can anyone else confirm?

No cool tech app such as remote via cell phone or siri eyes in Canada. In fact no blue link either. May become available in Canada in a few years.

Actually sent Hyundai an email on this and that was their response.

Midnightsun,

Thanks for completely ignoring my question...carry on...

Sorry about that, just slipped my mind somehow. :( See your PM.

Good news is they finally gave me a delivery date. Bad news is it will be Sept before I get to put my butt in it. :(
