  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Purchase Details so we all can prosper!

Date Purchased: 2/18/11
Model: 2010 V8
State: Wisconsin
Buy/Lease: Buy
Final Negotiated Price on Sales Invoice: $32,560

This was an Avis car purchased at auction in Lomira, WI. It had app 12K miles on it. While the first few nav destinations were in TN and SC, the vast majority after that were in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and it seems likely the car was based at O'Hare. The purchaser was my secretary's BF, a long-established used car dealer area who likes to find cars that match exactly what his customers are looking for--in my case, he nailed it right down to color (Cabernet) and engine.

The car had what looked like minor front-end damage (all cosmetic, nothing structural or mechanical), and we underestimated what it would cost to repair by almost $2K, much of it due to a headlight. I think Avis sold it early because it knew better than we did what the repair would cost.

The price broke down as follows:

28,067 price paid at auction
2918 damage repair, incl 1474 for Hyundai parts, the biggest part of which
636 for a headlight assembly that we couldn't even see was fractured
before the repairs were begun
474 services done by the purchaser before I had a chance to stop him,
including an unnecessary oil change and tire rotation, a second
smartkey ($309 !!!!), and machining warped front rotors (the only
thing that really needed doing)
100 detailing/polishing
1000 dealer fee (profit)

I'll need to buy a set of snows since this car is downright dangerous on snow-covered roads here in Packerland with the original Dunlops.

I think I got a great price for a V8, mostly due to the very low dealer profit (it's good to know a gal who knows a guy). I couldn't find a similar car for less than $35K at any other dealer.

Here's what my car looked like when I took delivery at the detailer's place. I would take an eye much more practiced than mine to know that this car had been repaired after bopping its nose. Kudos to the guys at Vogel Chevrolet of Kiel, WI, who have a rep for being the best body people around.

0n 11/8/2010 bought a new 2010 V-8 Tech with front and rear Genesis badges for $37,000 at Hub I-10 in Houston (Internet price). Offered me 2.9% interest, but because I had bought a daughter an Excel some 23 years ago, got 1.9% if I took maintenance pkg. So, 10 yr 100,000 mi with gap coverage really only cost me $9/month or $540. Just added badge to airbag and wheels (really like the black badge on wheels with black on black car). Get lots of "nice car, dude" which is neat to a 68 yr old.

I have a quote for 37k - 4.6 with tech in chicagoland. thoughts?

Is that with destination fee included? I just got a quote for 38,600 including destination on a 2011 V8…thinking about it… or maybe waiting till 2012 comes out…..maybe get a better deal or get the 2012…

ok ... done deal ... ... 4.6... 37.5 in western burbs of chicago. DONE with lifetime on transmission. Included cargo mat, locks, badges, etc. Car is in my garage and rocks.

Date: 5/21/11
Location: DFW
Car Model: Titanium exterior/black interior 2010 4.6 w/ Tech package, spoiler, pin stripes, driven 5000 miles by dealer, not titled so "new" car. 4/2010 manufacture date
List: approx. $44,795 (43.8 plus spoiler, stripes, cargo net, etc.)
Dealer discount: $10k, bringing price down to $34,795.00
Hyundai Finance discount: $1500.00 which was applied to down payment
Net cost before TTL and service add-ons: $33,295.00
(NOTE: finance was 36 mos @ 0% interest. I'm still scratching my head on how this works for Hyundai Finance - you give me 1500 bucks, kick the dealer a spf, and give me 0%!!!)

I've tried to buy this car 3 times, starting in December, but could never get the price I wanted until now. Hats off to Morgan, the sales guy and a real professional. Its a small dealer, and likely a tough one to work at, but he is a class act. The car is for my wife, and both she and I are thrilled! Moving her out of the Lexus GX470 because she started to hate the Lexus dealer nickel and dimeing her.

Anyone close to the central Virginia, North Carolina, should check the Roanoak Virginia Hyundai dealer, I bought my $2012 V-6, Tech Genesis back in March 2012 and got $7000 off, they now have 2013 V-6 & V-8 at over $10,000 off sticker. I drove about 100 miles to get mine and was extremely pleased.
They go by First Team, check out their website
