  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Purchase Details so we all can prosper!

Thanks. It's $41,500 out the door, including TT&D. Sticker may have been $42,100...couldn't quite remember. Going to test drive the V6 as well...though from what I can tell the diff is only $2000 or so for the V8. Seems more than worth the little extra.

Sounds like invoice, maybe less. In other words, a great deal.
As for the 4.6, that also gives you limited slip differential, 4 piston front braking, softer leather, and a rough rear ride (so I've read but haven't experienced).
FYI, put about 200 miles of interstate driving on it yesterday. The 65-90 power is amazingly smooth. I'd guess that's where you'd see the difference between the 6 and 8.

just leased a 3.8 titanium/black premium plus package MSRP $ 36,000
Money out of pocket including 1st month pymt $ 700( 700 - 545 = $ 155)
17,000 mi/yr lease
27 months
$ 545.00/month
Springfield Hyundai - PA

Got my deal done yesterday. $41,500 out the door. 4.6 with Tech package. Platinum.

Base V6 - Champagne color
$30,200 price
$350 in fees

Including California sales tax (8.5%!!) I was $33,100, out the door.

Cash deal.

Went by one of the local dealers on Tuesday. Test drove the V6, but they won't let customers test drive a V8 unless they are working a deal in order to keep the miles off of them. I understand where they're coming from, so it wasn't an issue.

I like the car, but it was funny having the salesperson tell me that they normally ask 3k over sticker on the V8 and customers end up paying about 1k over sticker. He did say that he'd let me have it for sticker.

Was all I could do to contain myself as I wanted to laugh at him because I had earlier told him that I wanted a new car, but don't NEED a new car.

The dealership was dirty inside, no soap and paper towels in the men's room, and I was greated by a salesman that was missing teeth and looked like he'd missed many meals. I thought about how many have faulted Hyundai for not creating a separate dealer network. My focus is on the car, but for those that currently own high end luxury cars, the dealership may turn them off.

They need to realize that at 42k, they are still competing with the higher end lux brands' CPO cars.

So, you are buying it 1k below invoice. Where are you located?

Am in Durham NC and just test drove a Genesis this morning. Very impressed. While it is a little soft compared to my GS400, it handles better than the E400 I had before that.

The deal on the table is:

V8 with technology package and all other premium amenities. $41,500 OTD.

Sticker is $42,7xx.

Haven't bought a new car in about 15 years (always buy CPO from dealers) so a little out of my element. Any thoughts on the price? Advice?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

Brian,
I think you have a good deal. I was thinking a good price is around $39K plus TTL, etc which equates to about $41,700 OTD.

Here is what I was quoted today:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is what I actually was asking for when they sent the V8 quote ... does this look good? Seems like people here have done better:

A 2009 Hyundai Genesis V8 Sedan with the Technology Package.

42000 MSRP
39211 Net Sale Price

27 month lease 559 plus tax. Requires 2599 drive-offs, which includes your first monthly payment. Residual is 56% and money factor is .00001.

The price is not good! I believe the residual is 54% for 12K and 53% for 15K so double check those numbers with the dealer. Remember there is a $1,250 rebate on the V8 so if this is factored into your sale price then the dealer is really selling the car for $40.4K.

Isn't the higher residual value better? I read this in a lease guide:

The higher the residual value the lower your lease payments. When deciding which car to lease, look for cars with high resale value. That will help bring down the cost of your lease. Bring your research to the dealership; you may be able to negotiate a better residual value.

The residual value is determined by Hyundai Leasing or an independent leasing company, not the dealer (unless they happened to own a leasing company). You can negotiate, but they really will be negotiating the price of the car and not the lease terms.

36995 plus TTD for a V8 w/tech and trunk mat (I think these are standard now because of the leak in issue)- ended up being about 41 something OTD (DC has 7% tax ).

Also getting a full detail every 6 months for 5 years (additional 700) but to me worth it because i am a street parker.

I worked a deal last night in Oklahoma City,

$36,800 4.6L w/ Tech Package, Black on Black, 100 miles.

I ended up walking because I am scared of the Black exterior, really hard to keep clean?

I want white or silver, they said they will try to find one and get back to me. But that price was "tonight only!" Ha!!!

So my plan is to not pay the "doc fee" because I feel that is a BS charge they throw in to cush their commish >>>

Sounds like you passed up a great offer. I paid slightly more for a V6 Premium-plus (i.e., no tech). (I'm in East Tennessee). I also have a black interior, and it's not hard to keep clean at all. I purchased back in early August, so there's some experience behind the comment as well. Very happy w/the car, and the interior!

Don't know for sure, but I'd bet the doc fee goes towards the general overhead of the dealership, and not the salesperson specifically. There are so many these days that are paid a salary instead of commision, or are salary plus commision, etc.

Agree with you Dan. I paid $39,100 for the same car at the end of November. Not complaining about my price, love the car.
One thing we CAN disagree about is Dianna Krall...

2009 4.6 with Tech Package
Black on Black (with brown leather dash).

Sticker 42,150.00

39.650.00

Purchased on 1/16/09

2009 Platinum with Black interior 4.6 with Tech

MSRP $42,150. Paid $39,832 (plus Tax, Doc. and Lic.)

Purchased immediately after the San Jose Auto Show, which generated a great deal of interest in the Genesis. The Hyundai rep (not a local salesperson) I spent 20 minutes with at the auto show told me there would be less markdown on the 4.6 than the 3.8 because there were far fewer V8s in the pipeline. Whether it was true or not I had no idea at the time. In any case, I was interested only in a platinum with black interior 4.6 with the tech package. According to the "in stock inventory" lists on all four of the dealers' websites in my area, only one had what I wanted. In fact, there were only seven 4.6/Techs along with a few dozen 3.8s available at all four of the dealerships combined, leading me to believe that the Hyundai rep at the auto show was being truthful.

When the Fleet/Internet manager I called offered me his Platinum/Black 4.6/Tech at $500 over invoice, I bought it and have not looked back. Could I have saved a few bucks with harder negotiating and/or shopping around a wider area? Sure. But my time is more valuable than that, and with the positive publicity the Genesis was receiving, I knew it could soon impact the car's selling price, especially here in Silicon Valley that hasn't been as badly affected by the economic disaster that has hit other parts of the country. The bottom line for me is, did I receive good or excellent value for my money? Absolutely. I love this car!

Did you happen to pick up the $500 voucher while you were there?
That would have saved you alittle more money.
