  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I have traded in my 2018 Sonata Ultimate for 2015 Genesis Ultimate today and could not be happier! Bought the car with 37k miles CPO. The only issue it has is the startup rattle but I am not concerned about that since it is under warranty (had previously got new engine on my old 2013 Azera under warranty due to the same issue). I am waiting for the dealer ship to call me when they get new tires (asked them for Pirelli P7's instead of generic crap that they usually buy and they agreed to my request yay). Below are some pictures of my new baby:

first project: remove soot from the exhaust pipes and clean leather (seats and steering wheel):

Nice. I liked my Sonata but it was a nice step up to the Genesis. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Thank you. Yes, I love it so much that I had to take it for a quick ride at midnight before I could go to sleep. Just waiting for the dealership to replace tires and do alignment so I can really enjoy this comfy ride. I have just fixed the double lines on the came and got the top view. Now, I am waiting for BlueLink to register my Genesis so I can download an update and use Apple CarPlay. Exciting!

Congrats! Love the plates on Sonata! I hope you transferred them to Genesis :spoton:

Thanks! Yes, they are transferred

You will not be able to get Apple Car Play on the 2015-2017 Genesis with Ultimate package. Search for Apple Car Play in the forum for confirmation.

i was looking at a new 18 sonata but went with 15 genesis and so glad i did every time i see a last gen sonata on the road. no android auto or apple carplay on the ultimate and this is specifically why i went with tech.

Thanks for letting me know. That sucks... :(

Eh, the heads up display and the bigger screen is a good sacrifice. I tried AA on loaner 2018s, and its slow and laggy to the point where I didn't bother.

Love Apple CP in my 15' sedan. Never laggy, the Siri vocie commands are always fast when making calls or even asking for directions based on address or business name. Now that I have it, I wouldn't consider a car without the feature. Don't mean to rub salt to the OP on this....but hey you never know, they may add this functionality in the future with an update

After looking for a Tech package for 6 months so I could upgrade to Apple Car Play, I went with a '15 Ultimate because the price was right. While the car was at the dealership to fix a few items noted during purchase I had an opportunity to drive a Sonata Limited with Car Play. I liked the interface, but I have to say the Ultimate package is worth it. The HUD is awesome, the Nav system works flawlessly, and the DIS system is so easy to use. The one thing I would use is the Messages app, but I've found Siri Talk to be an acceptable alternative.

Your gonna looove The Ultimate!!

I do love my Ultimate! I had Android Auto and Apple Car Play in my previous 2018 Sonata Ultimate but I only used it about three times - going to Toronto, colorado and Tennessee. It was great but I think I will be just fine without it. I am getting so many complements and had the car only for 4 day. Tinted windows today with 35% film. Now I am waiting for the dealership to get my new tires and will be dropping of the car next week. I asked them for Pirelli P7 as these are my fav tires. They ended up ordering Michelins that came originally with the car. Oh well. Better than generic crap that they usually put on CPO vehicles.
Cheers

Congrats again, it is a beautiful ride. I'm with you on tires, P7's are my favorite but the stock Michelin's are fine

You must have other trim than Ultimate.

One of the top features of having Android Auto or Carplay is the ability to use Google Maps Nav via the screen. As nice as the built in NAV is, paying almost $200 every time they have an update is nuts and to me not worth it. Google stays up to day 24/7 including traffic alerts etc.
