Purchasing 3.8 Ultimate this Sat, question.

Hi All,

I am so happy i finally pulled the trigger in getting this beautiful car.

Saturday i am picking up a new 2015 3.8 RWD Ultimate in Ibiza Blue with Ivory Interior.

My question for you guys is before driving off the lot what should be done?
My initial thoughts of what needs to be check was.

- Make sure Battery is OK since it's been probably sitting for a while.
- Has the Tire recall done.
- Check to see if it has the latest Navigation Update.

Is there anything else i am missing?
SUPER EXCITED to take delivery in a few days!!!!

My dealer was horrible in the prep and here are things I had issues with

Front plastic cover residue
Blue Link registration
Wheel locks
Over inflated tires
Trunk emblem

I love driving the car and I am sure you will enjoy it. Congrats

Some dealers put in new battery when they sell the car. Mine did not do it probably as I was not aware of that. Sometimes what is required to jump starting it but ask for new battery if you can.

Dealers have to fix all recalls by law before they sell the car. Check if the tires are not Hancocks. Mine are continentals but I have seen others getting Michelin as well.

Regarding the nav update, I am also not sure how to update it yourself? Maybe this calls for a new thread?

Check during driving test all systems as much as you can, brakes, acceleration, rattligs, Nav Unit, rear camera, wiper blades, horn, lights, tire noise and pressure, both key fobs function, check, check, check.
Look for paint imperfections and don't let the dealer whash it, do it yourself later.
Check with dealer which (if any) extended warranty you want.
Try to get the latest Map update for free.
Ask them to install the trunk emblem for free.
Check for the manuals, trunk cargo liner, floor mats, first aid kit, spare tire, jack and wheel wrench, wheel locks and key.

that is a BEAUTIFUL color combo OP, congrats. you're on the right track with tips here...make sure you drive it on the highway too. I always check at various cruising speeds (65, 70, 75, 80) to make sure there's no alarming vibration. Rims shouldn't be bent, but you never know. They also may need to re-balance the wheels if the ride isn't smooth at those speeds.

1. Wheel vibration - I think when the tire swap was done on mine they "forgot" to balance the Conti's. Physically look for the weights behind the wheel spokes.
2. Sunroof squeaks - Seems to be a big deal for people, make sure your's is quiet on the highway.
3. Spare tire and parts - Any air left in the spare? Does it have all the jack parts and wheel lug wrench?
4. Trunk Cargo Mat - Is yours supposed to have one included?
5. Oil Change - If it's a '15 then I imagine it has some miles...how many? Is it ready for an oil change?
6. Interior Clean - A test model I drove had a really dirty interior, you could see smudges where people had grabbed the A-pillars, etc.

7. Check the climate control works. Mine was delivered two years ago with the system needing to be recharged. Didn't blow cold air (does every since).
8. clean the windshield and make sure wiper blades are good
9. try out all the driver aids (lane departure, electronic cruise control, etc...)

My car had a bit of vibration at highway speeds at around 120km/hr - very slight, but noticeable because it suddenly appeared at that speed. I think it was just a bit of flat spotting due to the car sitting for so long. I was going to mention at the first oil change but it went away long before then.

Mine did end up needing a new battery before the first oil change, though. Ask them to test the battery to confirm it is up to spec before delivery.

I will defiantly get in some driving time with car come tomorrow to ensure that everything works.

I'm super excited to take delivery tomorrow of the car and i will defiantly post pictures once i get it (even if it might be dirty!).

Sunroof rattling noise. A lot of us have had the pano assembly replaced. It is a slight rattle noise that originates directly overhead in the backseat on right passengers side. Sometimes the rattle will not appear until 3k or perhaps 8k. Hope this helps. I test drove one that had less than 100 miles and I could hear the rattle.

I'm pretty sure the car won't have the latest build, which is now v.10

Do as I did 3 months ago, when I was buying my car, I insisted that the navi has to be up to date at no charge to me.
They agreed, however I had to remind them many times. You must have it in writing, or they will try to get out of it because it's going to cost them ~$200.00
I suggests, you wait with this request until you're about to sign the contract, that's what I did

Regardless of the miles, I'd recommend an oil change based on age. The manual specifies every 7,500 mi or 12 months.

I can't believe they still have NEW leftover '15's on the lot
I suppose $50k was too much for most people to pay, and with the incentives on the leftovers, they became much more affordable, and relative bargains.

That has been going on for at least 3 years now, where they have a lot of new previous year Genesis models still for sale, and sometimes even older than that.

Got the latest map update, new battery and a Oil Change right there. Car only had 25 mile on it when i picked it up. Build date was April 22, 2015!
