  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yeah the 2019 refresh of the 3 Series is a much needed and anticipated update... can't wait to see what they come up with. I'm not a fan of the current gen Bimmers or BMW in general but I would like to see how they change it to adapt to the competition. Should be sweet because MB and Audi did big stuff

Has anybody considered the Audi RS3? I haven't heard a single mention of it... I know it's smaller, but man that thing is sweet. 400HP? And reasonably priced (optioned normally probably around $60-63k?

I have. Too small and cannot stand those round vents. Thought closer to $70k?

Thought about it... isn't that more in line with the Stinger, BMW 4 Series, and G80... in terms of size?

Definitely not the G80...and not the Stinger. Probably the 4 series. The S4/S5/S5 Sportback are all pretty much the same...with number of doors and the rear shape being the difference.

The A5/S5 Sportback and the 4 Series GC are more similar to the Stinger in size and form than to the compact sports sedans.

The worst option of the lot is the Q50 RS - doesn't handle well and the gearbox stinks.

Both the ATS and 3 Series will be replaced by significantly improved models.

Matt is effusive in his praise of the Stinger GT, maybe a bit too much as the Stinger isn't quite the handler that the Giulia is (can see the G70, but the Stinger is too large/heavy and needs a few tweaks to its suspension).

But based upon numerous reviews, seems like there is a consensus building that of the current set, the G70 is closest to the handling prowess of the Giulia (altho, the XE is a contender, but seems to be forgotten).

"Free to me", I would pick the upcoming M340i. The current 340i gets the best fuel economy of your choices and it produces similar acceleration numbers. I expect the M340i to be even faster while still producing class leading fuel economy.

The G70's fuel economy being at the bottom of a list that includes a 400hp model with an antiquated 7-speed auto, that weighs more (speculatively), is a hard pill to swallow.

Obviously, this is all an entirely hypothetical thing I made up just to find what everyone on here's underlying preferences are.

Having said that, fuel economy does not weigh into this poll.... fuel economy relates directly to dollars, which is taken out of this. This is a "pure driving experience" poll not taking into consideration ANY costs whatsoever.

Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I picked the G70 ...

I think this generally the breakdown that was expected. I was expecting none for the ATS and Q50 Red Sport. Was NOT expecting none for BMW. Was definitely expecting the majority of votes to go to the AMG because let's be honest LOL and the G70 performed right around where I was expecting it to. And given the disparity between the S4 and S5, the Audi category got cheated a little but that's the way cookie crumbles

I honestly didn't look that hard at the BMW, not because of the car but because of the image. I just picture guys with contrasting white collared dress shirts with a bluetooth headset in no matter whether they're on the phone or not.

Admittedly I also had a really bad experience with one of their salespeople 10 years ago ...

HAHAHA that's funny! Now that you say it, that sounds all too accurate

I actually don't even look at BMW. I think they have trashed all their cars IMO. Only car I still like is the M4. I know they are updating their cars soon...so we will see. But...with that said...I think the X7 looks like sh!t (OMG that front) and they missed the boat on the 8-series (used to be stunning back in the day...new one looks awful). Again...IMO ;)

Yes but with all the blind followers that have "drank the kool-aid", they could make the most hideous designs in history and all the Bmw-ites would happily oblige and shell out the bucks

True true. Remember years back when the BMW's got Bangle'ized ? OMG...I will never forget that 7-series.

Too much for a car based on a Golf! I love Golfs (I'm a huge VW fan and own a modded GTI) but I don't like high dollar understeering pigs. :D

^ agreed. odd that there's no love for the 340i, but maybe the 2019 model will remedy the dynamic woes of the current F30 model. the S4 is hanging on, but far behind. the ATS non-V is no surprise to see with 0 votes.

while the Q50 is aging, the incentives that are typically available nearing year end make it a bargain. i routinely see up to $10k off MSRP in my area. while it's missing some tech, the RS is a lot of car for the money once incentives are factored. infiniti also has a great warranty which beats Genesis (although no free maintenance). for the purposes of this pole, however, it loses without question.

Good explanation. Being a previous G35 Sedan owner, the powertrain is bulletproof. Since it was a 5 speed auto, cruising @ 80 mph would have the engine turning around 3300rpm. I did the drive to Ohio twice in it which is a lot to ask. Not for that car. As it is the same block as the GT-R, it's to be expected. As far as the electronics go in the new models, I do not know the dependability of them, but overall, Nissan makes reliable cars. I'll need to drive the G70 to make my vote accurate since I haven't driven it. Quite excited about it.

1320video has a video of one doing 9.8 on a stock motor with E85 and a larger turbo. That's insane value!

However, wouldn't buy one cause of the size.

Anybody even consider the Model 3? I know it's electric and Tesla is questionable-ish, and there's a long waiting list... still, I have to have seen a negative review about it.

No, but I am curious to see what the Porsche Mission E/Taycan is like. Different car but I like cars that handle.
