  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Quality of leather seats....

2012 Genesis with the Premium package (saddle brown perforated leather). My seats started showing wear very early and look like total crap. Discolored, scratches and now full failure of the leather between the perforations. Very low quality compared to any leather seats I have owned in my 30+ years of owning cars -- all but the first two had leather. And yes, I wear jeans when I drive!
Jeans are brutal on car seats. Are you the original owner? How many miles on the odo?

Your car is 9 years old. Go to an auto upholstery shop for a renovation estimate. Your saddle leather color seats were rare on ‘12 models, but you might find one in a parts yard. You have the lesser quality of the two ‘12 seat styles. The more expensive Tech package had the better seats.

I have a feeling these cars dont fair well in sunny hot climates..

Both of mine -- with the "weaker" perforated aka "stretchy" surfaces that come with the tech trim seat coolers -- have been fine as daily drivers that sat outside all day. Both with black interiors and no tint on the windows in Florida sun now for 8+ years. None of the hard plastics warped. None of the vinyls discolored or faded and the leather looks fine. Material choice and sun damage resistance isn't the issue at all on these cars. I've had more issues with Sun damage with Toyotas and Hondas, both famous for being material quality fanatics.

But seriously, just take it to an upholsterer, and maybe care for it a little better in the future.
